I’ve never taken the birth control pill, but will have to in order to skip my period, as it is scheduled to arrive around my wedding day.
For the girls, who are on it, could you tell me which one is the best for combating acne at the same time?
My skin was clear for the longest time, but I recently started breaking out, probably due to the stress. I have 1 month left to clear up my skin.
I’ve been prescribed Diane 35…just wanted to know if anyone has taken it and if they experienced any negative side effects and if it does in fact help with acne as well? Thank you!
if you're taking BCP's a month before your wedding, be forewarned that it will not be effective at all. It takes it 4 cycles (or 4 packets of pills) to work on your body, both for the contraception, as well as working for acne. I'm not sure what are the side-effects of Diane 35 specifically, but I'm assuming it's the same for all kinds of BCP's...nausea, slight weight gain are the most common. But gynae's usually prescribe Diane 35, while GP's will prescribe something else, like tricycline. In any case, if you know your acne is due to hormonal imbalance, no matter what pill you take, it should work for your acne.
^for some people it might be. not everyone has an easy time and could do without the cramps/being extra emotional/running the loo a million times/sweating more/feeling hot/bloating...... and so on
I took Diane 35 a long long time ago just for acne and it really did improve alongwith some antibiotics. I dont remember having any other side effects though.
Diane35 takes a few cycles to combat acne.. I took it a few yrs back and it gives you breast tenderness, slight nausea and mood swings. And it didn't work very well for my acne :(
hey there, what is there to worry about then..just take tab.primolut N, and start it 3 days before you expect menses to begin, they will simply be postponed.ok.good luck..
i took it for years - its the only thing that curbed my acne - it took a while to work but it DID work for me. i didnt have any side affects for years but developed some just before i stopped taking it
my skin has improved off its own accord now allumdulilah so i no longer need it
I took it couple of years ago for acne, the acne didnt get better, i put on alot of weight with it and was feeling depressed alot fo the times. my cousin is taking it and she say's its working for her, her acne has improved and she hasn't gained any weight. so may work for u too!
some of you say here that there is this sideffect of gaining weight but do you gain weight even though you have a proper diet + exercise? Or do you gain weight just 'naturally'?
^HNK, all the doctors i've spoken to say that this isn't a 'real' side effect, not for the combined pill at least. what it can do is make you feel more hungry (experienced this) - so people who don't keep check on how much they're eating end up putting on weight. or the mood swings/depression causes comfort eating and again, gaining weight. if you don't change your diet and keep exercising, there's no reason why you should gain weight.
i was on my period on my wedding day, and to be honest i couldnt tell. plus your so tired and emotional at the end of the day that you dont really feel ready to be intimate with ur husband..depends, i married someonewho understood all ths,so we just cuddled up and went to slp on the day. as for pains and bloatedness, it didnt really bother me, trust me you have so many other issues, ul actually forget ur on ur period, i know i did!

u write good english and i assume u live in the western world. i'm sure u've a family physician who u could talk to and who could prescribe the right kind of pills which doesn't have the minimal side effects. Asking on this kinda of forum is not advisable and besides who will be responsible if things go wrong. my advise to u is to plz check with ur family physician. thank you...
...and, congratulations on ur wedding. i wish u best and pray to Allah that u have a happy and prosperous life ahead. :)

oh the thought of having your periods on your wedding day! what a nightmare! lol!
i know some unfortunate souls who have really heavy periods, the last thing they would want is to have their period on their wedding day. others get pains so bad they can't go to school/work for the first day. having personally gone through the latter for a time in my life, where you have so much muscular pain/cramping that you can't walk properly and passing out from super low b.p, i wouldn't wish it on anyone.
you should count your lucky stars that you have it so easy that you can't even empathise.
when i was going to india … i was concerned for having them … becuz i knew that there is a serious issue with water and stuff over there in the toilets …
i was traveling … not visiting family or anything .. and had to be on the move constantly …
so then my mother got me some pills from a gynecologist which i had to start taking about 4-6 days before the actual date of my periods … and these were basically to delay them … and i needed to stay clear for a week … so i took these pills from 4-6 before the actual date, till when i wanted to stay clear …
they start about 2 or 4 days after you stop taking the pill …
i was told this is just an emergency thing … and MUST NOT be made a habit …
and i think this is a good alternative for emergencies like weddings … and i understand the need to take them becuz some of us can have bad cramps
but also be aware … that any method used to delay in such haste may cause slightly heavier periods afterwards, or may give you slightly more bad cramps … depending from person to person …
i had no problem though …
sorry i dont remember the name of these … becuz i am talking about 2 or 3 years ago …
Thanks for the advice everyone. I got a second opinion from another doctor and he said I should be fine. The side effects only come if you take it for an extended period of time. I'll only be taking it for like 1 month.
