I really like the airbrush makeup that Anam has done, but I haven’t seen it on a real bride. Any one know how it looks in person? Also, how durable is the airbrush makeup as compared to the regular one?
No personal experience, but from what I've seen and read, I'd pick Anam, and request her not to use funky colors on the eye/avoid cutting the crease with solid black eyeshadow (she tends to get carried away). It seems she actually listens to her brides, something Ms. Khan apparently thinks is beneath her.
I find Bina Khan completely uninspired ; her brides look washed out and boring, and her "up dos" (flat, taut buns?) look like they've been done by the brides themselves. She insists on using the same mauve/brown/bronze lipstick from the nineties on every girl, regardless of what they're wearing. Random MAC artists have more aesthetic sense than that. The woman's work can't get anymore vapid considering she's celebrity.
Same as Chai, I haven't used her personally, so I'm just going by her pics and stuff. I used to like Bina Khan's earlier stuff before she kinda settled on a signature look, plus there seems to have been some bad reviews about her recently, so not sure whether she would be worth whatever she charges, really.
I've seen 4-5 brides by Anam in person and have to say I was rather impressed. She gives brides a very youthful look, but I do agree, her pictures are sometimes edited to make the make up look even more flawless. But overall, considering how low her prices are it's a pretty sweet deal, the girl she has for hair/dupatta setting is amazing, Shazia I think she's called.
Shamain is another great MUA, a friend had her baraat and walima makeup done by her, it was beautiful!
anam is the rising makeup artist in karachi.. she is most popular among all.. recently another artist NATASHA KHALID is trrying her best to be the best still anam is winning..both are m.a.c makeup artists n trained in uk(anam) and dubaiI(natasha).. natasha is madam noor jehan’s grand daughter.
Anam tends to go overboard with black eye-shadow sometimes plus her base sometimes makes the bride look pasty but she does does really nice and vibrant lips, her contouring seems pretty non-existent..
Bina does amaaazing smouldering brown smokey eyes and very subtle contouring which I find makes the face glow, her red lips are glam, and I like her style of updo's which are like french rolls-they distribute the hair all along the head as opposed to a high or a low bun which look like extra appendages sprouting on a bride's head under the ghoonghat :p but her nudish lips are such a let down that after soo much make-up and blending and all the bride ends up looking like she has nothing except kajal and lip-gloss on her face!! sad.
Shamain I ruled out because of her outrageous charges. 35K for one day. 5 K for services and if you book her for both days, you get 5K off services and you end up paying 70 K to her. Too much of money. Besides, a friend of mine who had a worth to die for extravagant wedding and wore Bunto was a Shamain bride. Personally IMHO, Shamain didn't do justice to the Bunto jora.
There ! I said it.
Bina Khan I ruled out after seeing a friend who opted for her on both days. She looked like everyone here is saying. Total washed out with a hint of a dull mauve lip colour and another beautiful jora from PLK gone wasted.
Anam I opted as I have also attended makeup classes form her. There, in front of my eyes, real brides used to NAG her to death by asking for zillion changes and nth time reverting back to what Anam had done in the first place!!! Can you have this luxury with Bina or Shamain !!! I SEVERELY DOUBT.
Besides, her prices are VERY affordable and she is a real darling. She listens to what the bride has to say. Her place isn't a mad house like Sabs' is. I went to Sabs for my engagement and got done by Qadir. Everyone loved my makeup but I hated the CHAOS there. While pulling on my *ziddi *churridaar in the changing room, the door was constantly banging by other anxious brides outside and I LITERALLY had to stand in a 6 girl queue to get my dupatta pinned to my head. It was a very thaka daynay wala marhala!
S down anam...have posted my expeirence on both of them before. Plus anam is a darling she is such a nice person and she listens to you with respect not sarcasm. That natasha person mentioned above is trying to copy her but failing
