Just the fact that I dont see why USA needed to pull this hoax is a reason good enough for me to believe that it was not a hoax.
Plus, USA cannot afford to pull any more hoaxes. WMD (or lack of it) was enough to bring the US’s reputation to ground, any more lies (of this magnitude) would be a disaster.
Lastly, if this is a hoax then there are only 2 real possibilities
Osama is still alive somewhere, in which case it will be a matter of days before he would release an audio or video
Osama was dead long ago, in which case some top official of Al-Qaeda or Taliban would come out and tell that truth to people.
In both cases, it would be few days before the reality of it would open up to the world, had it be a hoax, and USA is not fool not to know that hoax is not going to last for more than a week or so.
Just the above logic dictates that OBL’s killing in Abbotabad was real.
Whether or not it was hoax, when was Osama’s last “video/audio” tape released? Ayman Al-Zawahiri has been out of scene for so long too, all we have been hearing is TTP statements.
