Bilqees Kaur

Re: Bilqees Kaur

Kisi ko tou urdu boolne dain :emmy:

Re: Bilqees Kaur

i loved it. probably the only drama that got my attention after humsafar. in the beginning bushra ansari says that she was born and bought up in usa but whats funny is how come her clothes, accent, english nothing looks like she was born there. overall a great start!!

Re: Bilqees Kaur

If it were too sakeel for you then you might not know your Punjabi well enough. As a native speaker I could tell that even Bushra Ansari's character was keeping the sakeelness in check while the rest were mingling it with Urdu in any case. I love how she says "mein auda 'bastoband' karni aan" or something to that effect. Heard that after a while :)

Re: Bilqees Kaur

i really loved n enjoyed bushra's punjabi. mostly sikh ppl do speak like that and many typical sikh ladies also don't leave their culture n shalwar kameez no matter how long hav they lived in west.. i always think isn't bushra from urdu speaking family? how come she learnt such a good punjabi? may be coz she's so talented....

Re: Bilqees Kaur

It was not too sakeel for me.It is just different from the punjabi I have heard all my life.I think it might be the dialect due to regional differences. But still enjoyable..!

:)

Re: Bilqees Kaur

Nah, I'm pretty sure Bushra Ansari is from a Punjabi family...she was born in Karachi but spent her life in Lahore/Pindi. She jokes around about it a lot...it's pretty cute.

Re: Bilqees Kaur

It sounds like an excellent drama for Punjabi speaking families. But what about the rest of us? While I am able to comprehend easy Punjabi, this was a bit too much. Infact, the show seemed more suited to air on a Punjabi channel rather than an urdu channel.

Just my opinion though. My family seems content to watch the drama despite understanding little. They think they can make do with guesswork.

Re: Bilqees Kaur

Bushra Ansari is acting really well as always but I'm finding it kind of difficult to understand this drama ( the punjabi ) :( Shame because I REALLY wanted to watch this one after seeing the promos ... I might continue watching it or will just stick to mera saeen 2

Re: Bilqees Kaur

yeah the Punjabi bit is a problem for me too. I am trying to figure it out but the bit Bushra and Farhan speak is a little beyond me. I am understanding it through context clues when Bushra's character talks with others who are speaking Urdu or a mix of Punjabi and Urdu. Let's hope they add some subtitles otherwise it would be tough for people like me to follow 1/2 the episode.

Re: Bilqees Kaur

Being a punjabi I m absolutely loving in it n understanding it...... But wondering do these characters r really living in r society?
They r showing US but dont know y I m always get feeling of UK :(

Re: Bilqees Kaur

^^ Of course there are many like this family living in NY. They marry in their cousins, some get educated while some choose to be cabbies. I see a lot of them. I go to that restaurant where she is working a lot too.

I really really want to watch this one too. I am very excited about it butttttttttt like many others, punjabi is a problem for me too. I don't understand what Bushra Ansari is saying.

Re: Bilqees Kaur

Dus daina di ek dain.. Balqees Bhatti....

Re: Bilqees Kaur

LOL Bushra Ansari is smoking Woah! Never expected that!

Re: Bilqees Kaur

She is Punjabi from Gujranwala, atleats that's what somebody recently told me. I believe she has lived in karachi all her life but i guess she must have had the punjabiness in her from her bachpan. Waise bhi, she's just too talented and plays all her roles with such a finesse.

Re: Bilqees Kaur

I've watched the first episode about 3 times and still can't understand what Bushra is saying. I can understand some punjabi, but Bushra's is just too hard"kaur" for me.

Re: Bilqees Kaur

^ Hahaha, thank God i could understand everything she said. I can understand punjabi but i can’t speak it and that sucks :teary1:.

Btw, so the last episode was #3? cuz that’s all they have online. I think its quite an interesting drama.

Re: Bilqees Kaur

^Last night was second episode.

Re: Bilqees Kaur

oh ya, sorry i meant to ask if only two episodes have been telecasted so far. i confused it with aanie ki aayegi baraat :smack: just like i have forgotten now which drama it was; bilqees or aaanie in which bushra said a very funny dialogue. hai i think i shudnt watch these 2 simultaneously.

Re: Bilqees Kaur

I’m losing interest in this because I’m having trouble understanding the punjabi as well. And my family is Punjabi but I do not understand punjabi to that extent. URGH. I was really looking forward to this. :bummer:

Re: Bilqees Kaur

I barely understand any punjabi :(

Subtitles idea is a good one :D
