Loved the first episode but dayum how completely miscast is Farhan Ali Agha?. Even a 5 year old would have a hard time buying his Sikh avatar. Anyways looking forward to the next episode.

Re: Bilqees Kaur
felt really bad for saadia imam's character. The story reminds me of news article I've read on bbc about pakistani immigrants (particularly in UK) slaving their pakistani mail order brides. ** shudder shudder shudder*** My cousin's close friend went through something similar , but she came from a well to do (yet stupid) family in Pakistan and ran off from her in-laws home and reported them to the authorities.
I loved the Punjabi dialogues, so authentic and real. Some of them reminded me of my ammi. Hehe sadia imam was shaky in her role.

This things do happen in the west. So far I like the drama. It looks quite promising and touch on topics faced by families in the west and east. Some families are so desperate to marry off their daughters to people outside of Pakistan to improve their family status. But sometimes it can result in disastrous marriages. If this drama I done right it can shed some light in immigration issues and marrying outside the religion.
How many kids does Bulquees kaur have?
Who is Farhan Ali suppose I relation to Bilquees Kaur?

Re: Bilqees Kaur
I LOVE BUSHRA ANSARI. <3
The punjabi was epic, totally reminded me of my mom/aunt in some scenes (get up for prayer, sheesh you eat like a man but can't 'daba' properly) lmao. Oh God, I love being Punjabi.
Anyhow, Sadia Imam, wtf? You can tell shes forcing that accent/demeanor. It kills the scenes she's involved in. And Farhan Agha or whatever...idk why, but I feel like all Pakistani dramas portray Hindus/Sikhs very unrealistically - in the sense of religious-wear and other religion related stuff. Indians so the same with us, but yeah. It always baffles me cos they're not aliens...Sikh Punjabis are just exactly like Muslim Punjabis. Anywhoo...these two don't fit. Oh and I love the son-in-law's baysti at the end rofl...sigh.
I'm putting this as my no.1 after Humsafar.

I totally love the punjabi in this drama. I Don't understand most of it but I get the jist. Sadia imam is not bad so far but Farhans character protrayal is totally off.
Re: Bilqees Kaur
Loved the first episode!!! Great pace.
Bushra Ansari is legend, she acts with such ease, and walks on 74th street in Jackson Heights like she owns it.
Farhan Agha - out of place totally, his fake beard looks like its about to fall off, and he just can't do the whole punjabi thing.
Now my only beef: Apparently all their kids have been born/raised/educated in NY, but eldest son seems like he just immigrated yesterday, his whole character just seems out of place.
Looking forward to next episode.
Re: Bilqees Kaur
I actually saw the first episode after reading about it here.I simply loved Bushra Ansari. She is so at ease with her character.I know Punjabi well but felt at times that it was a bit 'sakeel',but nothing I cannot understand.
The person playing her husband also acts well.I am having a hard time watching Sadia imam and her husband.I think since I watched it in bits I missed the scenes with Farhan Ali Agha.I was also not able to get how many kids Bushra has in total...four...??..
Re: Bilqees Kaur
Too much Punjabi ![]()
I wasnt able to comprehend much :hinna:
Chipsy she has 4 kids. What I don't get it is how come.the younger son is only speaking in Urdu. Maybe they could have had someone with slight.bit of Punjabi accent
