Re: Biharis(Stranded Pakistanis)Protest again on 23rd March
Can someone please educate me? When was the last time in history that a population of this size we repatriated to another, faraway land? The "right of return" that Palestinians often mention is scoffed at by serious-minded students of the area as impossible and impractical and that issue has complete global attention. This issue is not even a footnote, unfortunately.
Given how poorly South Asians in general treat the citizens of their lands (Pakistan doesn't have a monopoly on mistreating citizens), it's highly unlikely that they will ever be allowed into Pakistan. In addition, it is probably not these people who were loyal to Pakistan but their ancestors and elder family members.
People, we cannot even agree on the fate of Kashmir, which has caused four wars, do you honestly think something is going to happen here? Let me predict the course of action:
1. A generation of Bengali-Pakistanis grow up bitter and full of hate.
2. They take up violent means to make their cause heard over the world and snap the Bangladeshi govt out of hibernation.
3. Religious fantics usurp the group and make it a religious battle.
4. Bangladesh blames a "foreign" hand.
5. UN Resolutions are passed, leaders come and go, summits are held, to no avail. The battle rages for hundreds of years with neither party budging an inch.
