Biharis(Stranded Pakistanis)Protest again on 23rd March

Re: Biharis(Stranded Pakistanis)Protest again on 23rd March

Can someone please educate me? When was the last time in history that a population of this size we repatriated to another, faraway land? The "right of return" that Palestinians often mention is scoffed at by serious-minded students of the area as impossible and impractical and that issue has complete global attention. This issue is not even a footnote, unfortunately.

Given how poorly South Asians in general treat the citizens of their lands (Pakistan doesn't have a monopoly on mistreating citizens), it's highly unlikely that they will ever be allowed into Pakistan. In addition, it is probably not these people who were loyal to Pakistan but their ancestors and elder family members.

People, we cannot even agree on the fate of Kashmir, which has caused four wars, do you honestly think something is going to happen here? Let me predict the course of action:
1. A generation of Bengali-Pakistanis grow up bitter and full of hate.
2. They take up violent means to make their cause heard over the world and snap the Bangladeshi govt out of hibernation.
3. Religious fantics usurp the group and make it a religious battle.
4. Bangladesh blames a "foreign" hand.
5. UN Resolutions are passed, leaders come and go, summits are held, to no avail. The battle rages for hundreds of years with neither party budging an inch.

Re: Biharis(Stranded Pakistanis)Protest again on 23rd March

I wrote in earlier post. Where there is will, there is a way.

So far we have discussed the possibilities:

1- Give them choice.
2- Bring them slowly over few years.
3- Don't even bother thinking that they are Pakistani.
4-yes their ancestors may be loyal Pakistani but younger one are NOT.
5-Our concious in the meantime took a large dose of sleeping pills and time to time snores so we can discuss this issue and feel good about it!

Re: Biharis(Stranded Pakistanis)Protest again on 23rd March

Why can't the goverment bring them home???? They are our brothers, can't have those poor little kids spend their entire lives as refugees in camps. :(

Re: Biharis(Stranded Pakistanis)Protest again on 23rd March

Yes as I have said before it is a travesty that The Biharis have not been brought home

Re: Biharis(Stranded Pakistanis)Protest again on 23rd March

Home? Their home was Bihar first and then East Bengal. They have never been to Sindh or Karachi.

Re: Biharis(Stranded Pakistanis)Protest again on 23rd March

There home was Pakistan and still must be Pakistan.

You in your evil mind mentioned sindh or karachi so you could stay away from it...but whole Pakistan must be their home.

Be thankful to people who fed you or either brought freedom to you or supported your freedom..even if it was their ancestors.

Re: Biharis(Stranded Pakistanis)Protest again on 23rd March

not all the bihari muslims wat to come pakistan only the group who went to
undevided pakistan and who fought for pakistan.

Re: Biharis(Stranded Pakistanis)Protest again on 23rd March

Personally I have a friend who has worked on this issue..and I figured a few things should be mentioned:

1) Some were repatriated to Pakistan by Nawaz Sharif before the scheme was abandoned because of pressure..Nawaz Sharif set up a place for them in Mian Channu Okara. Unfortunately many of the families faced a bad time from the locals..in some cases some even regret going to Pakistan..in quite a few cases because of a lack of employment they have moved since then to karachi. There are still several dozen housing units left as part of the scheme.

2) Not all Biharis want to become citizens of Pakistan now..the younger generation openly want to become Bengali citizens and granted the same rights as Bangladeshi citizens..the elders still dream of Pakistan.

3) The Pak government will almost always bring up the cost of bringing such a large number of people to Pakistan.

Some general comments:

1) The Biharis don't have to come to Pakistan directly..a solution possible they could be granted pak nationality and instead get jobs offered to Pakistanis in the middle east that way their return will be gradual and economics won't force them into karachi aggravating ethnic problems there..

2)Bangladesh should as part of a comprehensive deal agree to accepting biharis as Bagladesh citizens..at least those that wish...considering Pakistan is host to over 1 million Bengalis almost all based in khi..why not have some sort of exchange of population that won't alter the dynamics of the region.

3)I believe one of the funds set up for the Bihari repat programme was frozen by the US?

Re: Biharis(Stranded Pakistanis)Protest again on 23rd March

Not true from any evidence we see so far.

Keep yourself away from this issue. You are neither Pakistani or a Pakistani moved to now called BD land. Thank you.

Re: Biharis(Stranded Pakistanis)Protest again on 23rd March

Yes their home was East Pakistan just like it was home for all the non-Biharis. The name "East Pakistan" has been chaned for good 30 years to "BDesh" and so has their home.

That sure is a wishful thinking. Sindhis got duped the first time around in 1948-1949. The may be simple but they won't be deceived twice.

Re: Biharis(Stranded Pakistanis)Protest again on 23rd March

At least you agreed without your intention that they did come to Pakistan and were/are Pakistani.

You failed miserabbly to acknowledge it was NOT THEIR FAULT East Pakistan became BD.
Greedy west Pakistani with Majority Punjaabi Hand and its evil ambitions resulted in creation of BD, off course with India indiredtly helping Punjaabi cause.

Even some concious Punjaabis agree that Punjaab regiment was active in raping bengalis girls and punjaabis took jobs in East Pakistan from Manager to Chapraasis and made Bengalis feel inferior to anyone else.

Also, for army recruitment, standards (mainly physical) were made to pass only punjaabis and pushtoons to be able to enter in army/navy/airforce so that no one else could enter armed forces.

Asking for a relative or any family member in Armed forces in the application to enter into armed forces was one of this discriminatory tactice used by the racist regiment.

Trying to incite Sindhis? Humm!

You tried to incite Sindhis since YOU KNOW Punjaab will never accept them or will not give them true senctuary at Punjaab expense.

What else one can expect from you.

Re: Biharis(Stranded Pakistanis)Protest again on 23rd March

If Biharis were so "much in love with Bengalis" then why would Bengalis not give them BDesh citizenship? Or treat them nicely?

Sindhis don't need any "incitement". They can just look at Hyderabad and Karachi and get "all incited".

British ruled Bengalis for the longest period (210 years) of time while Punjab and Frontier had the shortest period (87 years) under Brits. They got to try using soldiers from all over South Asia and set the recruitment standards.

Pakistan used those same recruitment standards until 1950. From then on, the height and wait standards were lowered to accommodate Bengalis. East Pakistan Rifles was almost 100% Bengali and so was the Police.

Imposition of Urdu however was the first spark of Bengali resentment. That is why I propose to rid our schools from compulsory Urdu. We should have only English as compulsory and provide teachers for Sindhi, Balochi, Pushto, and Punjabi languages. This will give the students option to pick and use any of these truly Pakistani languages.

** Having said this, I suggest you stick to the topic instead of lashing out on Punjabis and Hindustanis**.

Re: Biharis(Stranded Pakistanis)Protest again on 23rd March

They loved Pakistan and for that reason they migrated to East Pakistan. Bengalis are NOT Pakistani anymore.
So why should bengalis give them citizenship??
Are we asking Bengalis to bail us out from our hypocritic attitude?

What about you? You did try to incite them though.

Not sure what you meant by trying. Are you suggesting they knew who can fight for them with loyalty!?

And even in East Pakistan, army officiers from west Pakistan were recruited including their personal helpers. Great way to Incite Bengalis.

Well, Urdu was made National Language based on Muslim history in comparison to Hindi for now Hindustan by Great Quaid. Urdu was NOT the reason bengalis took their piece of land. Refer to urdu thread for more detailed answer.
Off topic however.

Pointing out the background facts is not lashing out on anyone.

We as a nation must agree that we are not able to expect moral and ethical treatment by anyone from outside till we do the same for our own people.....the so called Biharis or anyone for that matter.

We all know they were never anything but Pakistani after the partition in 1947.

Re: Biharis(Stranded Pakistanis)Protest again on 23rd March

Just like those Biharis couldn't call themselves Bharatis after 1947, they shouldn't be calling themselves East Pakistanis after 1971. Why it is so hard for you to understand?

There were thousands of Biharis who did make it to Punjab and Sindh after 1971 and they are now citizens of now formar West-Pakistan.

Re: Biharis(Stranded Pakistanis)Protest again on 23rd March

Did you think before typing two contradictory statements?

1- You want them to be BDeshi when they did not want. if they wanted to be BDeshi we would not have this discussion.

2-Its the height of evil nature to push people away for monitory benefit when they wanted to be the part of Pakistan and still want that.

3- What is the difference among those who are accepted and living in Pakistan and not others? Evidence of double standard or a decision with no basis?

4- keep the respect of Pakistan as a moral country who honors its OWN citizens by heart or by Passport.

5-What did the passport/ID card, paperwork etc. say on these migrants from India to now BD? Pakistani or BDeshi?

6- Imagine if the situation was reversed and East Pakistan was west and west was East Pakistan. Should East Pakisani reject you as Pakistani or oppose your migration to East Pakistan even if YOU wanted to?
How would you feel if they had told you we cannot afford you so be loyal to another country!

Points 4 to 6 need your deep thoughts before answering! Hope you got the message.

Re: Biharis(Stranded Pakistanis)Protest again on 23rd March

Pure imaginations. Deeda what hath you smokin'

Just imagine if Bharat was Pakistan, and Pakistan was Bharat. Would your relatives be enjoying nice living in Karachi. No. They will be stuck in a dirt-clad village of Bihar.

Pragmatism (and not your emotional outbursts) drive the decision making. Convince Sindhis that they all these BDesh's won't upset the already pretty upset balance in Sindh and believe me all your remaining family members would be in Karachi soon.

Re: Biharis(Stranded Pakistanis)Protest again on 23rd March

^Who said I am from Bihar? Besides, nice living is MADE BY the muhajirs/karachiites themselves thru their hard work and they still feed the entire country directly or indirectly. Be thankful and thats all.

Anyway, You nicely tried to avoid answering the the points and still scratching your head.
Waiting for your true and hones answers. Don't make me think its hard for you to be true.

Re: Biharis(Stranded Pakistanis)Protest again on 23rd March

its a tough call dudes! On one hand there are political compusions and on the other there are emotions but I firmly believe they shud stick to Bangladesh- Bangladesh itself is tilting towards Pak and who knows re-unification aint that far?

Re: Biharis(Stranded Pakistanis)Protest again on 23rd March

^That's a bizarre notion...'re-unifictaion'....

Anyways.....I would love to see these deserving people given the just solution...

Re: Biharis(Stranded Pakistanis)Protest again on 23rd March

They have emotions for Pakistan as they gave everything for Pakistan.

Only greedy, hypocritic, immoral and self loving people would force them to be with BD which was never meant to be their place to live.
Oh...................we will die of starvation if we took these people no matter if they are our own citizens! What a pathetic analogy. If not than what is it?
