To say that biddatis are always looking for ease is wrong. There are many biddatis looking to make life a misery too. Rather there is a statement in shari'ah where we should facilitate ease for people, but not the other way round. There is no statement where hardship should be made for people. Rather the definition of jihad is to place oneself in hardship - not over-powering hardship but just enough to keep improving ... but not to judge others with the same.

If the Sunnat is to be preserved then the outer forms as well as the inner forms must be preserved. It is as much Sunnat to be kind on people as it is to have a beard. The pious people are lenient on others and strict on themselves only. If RasoolAllah (SAW) was Rahmat-ul-'Alameen and we are supposed to follow him ... then it means that when we are exercising rahm towards others we are embodying his (SAW) trait of rahma ...

Biddat needs to be understood carefully ...

Many people would like to say that biddat is an addition in to the ritual aspects of Islam ... this is simply not the complete truth. Biddat is addition in to Shari'ah what is not part of it, it is the subtraction from Shari'ah what is part of it and it is the misplacing of something within Shari'ah in a ruling category that it does not belong to ...

So many people will look out for things being done that were not done ... these are not biddat unless they are being given a Shari'ah rating that does not belong them. However, many ahadith and fadail are removed by people of shiddat - thinking those to be false or fabrications - that itself is a biddat. Rather such matters should be left alone and anyone doing them should be left alone if you disagree with them or join in with them if you believe there is some benefit. But to completely outlaw a matter of ikhtilaf is shiddat and biddat also.*

BTW, what kind of ease people get while traveling to distant dargahs, which is one of the mostly quoted biddat by shiddat pasand lobby?
