Calling oneself Hindustani does not contradict his belief in a secular state. ‘Hindustan’ means is land east of the Indus/Sindhu river. The association of Hindu with practitioners of the stream of religion now known now as Hinduism only truly took root from around the 15th and 16th centuries.
