Every leader in the history has some good and some bad side. We measure those leaders through the history pages,…where they left their legacies,..Personally…I liked his non-violent movement…I always give him credit for that,…even when I discuss with my Indian friends here…But sometime, we go overboard and give more than what’s needed…You have to confess this,…that his political immaturity set the stage for an independent Nation,…also he turned an ordinary **Muslim Attorney **into a leader, who later became the Founder and Father of Pakistan,…Do you know what I am trying to say here ???
BTW,…Please give me the book/link reference. to read more about him as you just said that..“He went on Hunger strike in 1948”.
^ majority in the world thinks he is a neik insaan. And Indians believed in him then, now and will believe him later as well.. after all how can u question our belief when we guys believe in God.. who we have never seen or heard.
:) . Can u deny such a belief to us. Here u cannot convert any Indian in this board to a anti Gandhi platform. His life has been scrutanised..went over and very many great people have commented about him.so it doesnt matter wheather one tariq does not believe that he is no good. There may be thousands like u.. but there are millions learned and more intelligent than many of us here who admire him and leads his way of life.
Anyhow, I agree with you that virtue and politics do not go hand in hand. Gandhi created these Muslim leaders and later beleived that he would be able to convince them, he failed.
Though he could convince the masses.
‘Freedom at midnight’ is the most authentic autobiographical history of Gandhi. You may find it pro Gandhi a little, but the data and incidents are correct.
I was comparing,..two Political leaders,…here,..not God vs Human,…
Also,…No one is forcing you guyz to become anti-Gandhi,…here…I didn’t know you guyz believe him like God,…its a news to me,..if that’s the case then,…no use to disuss this Gandhi stuff here.
I have posted a page with Link from Indian History here,…you don’t wanna read that,..
That topic clearly deals with Jinnah Vs Gandhi,…Neru is not even mentioned there,…based on that we are discussing it,…I can re-post the whole thing for you if you want,…otherwise read that Indian History again..
To me God is somebody who gives me moral courage, who is impartial. Its just an abstract thing.. i dont know honestly wheather i believe in the God myself. Its very strange feeling though. Because u dont feel GOd. Thats what it is.
Any way.. but my last post has to be put in perspective. I was just implying that those who havent seen him is commenting about his achievements when most of his contemporaries had only nice things to say about him. We are passing judgment on persons who was dead and gone. U can find infinte blogs on the net hailing him and rejecting him. So I take the side of those who hail him because he was different to most of the contemporaries then. OK!
I am not Gandhi basher,…As I said,..he is respected …for his non-violence movement,..He has some admirers in Pakistan too,..as jinnah has his foes…Therefore, I won’t go in any detail here,..than just to say,…You believe what you believe in,…I believe what I believe in,…My wordings are just one man’s opinion here,..some may differ with me in Pakistan,…or elsewhere…But have to read more about him then can clearly say,…based on that knowledge,…its too early…for me.
^ you lose it right there the moment you bring in Jinnah - the 2 are not in the same level. Jinnah was a wily politician. Gandhi was a good politician but more imortantly he was a principled leader that accomplished independence for India.
I don’t think so,…If you know, or..you can go back and check history,…books,..about Jinnah,…he used to be in the Congress party,… Why he left,..do you know,..?
Again,…When I provided links to you guyz…then your argument is that those links are biased,…either way,..you guyz don’t listen,..because,..you can’t handle the truth,…I gave the page fron Indian history,..you guyz deny that too,..so what’s next,..Then we should stop this discussion about Gandhi and can say Adios Amigos,…how is that ?
Dear tariq.. if u have read my posts till now.. u will realize that i didnt compare Gandhiji to Jinnah. Because i have no idea about Jinnah.. well i have some idea.. but that idea would be biased.. and i dont want that to be revealed when i have doubt on my source.. this is what i try to do in each of my post. Only this much i can say.. Jinnah was a clever politician and he was good for Pakistan.
I urge u to close this thread.. there is no use comparing the two, its not going to give us anything neither would it lead to anything.
