I talked about it once on GS, but i just wanted to start a new thread on this
A Baloch friend of mine invited me to his wedding. When us friends reached the venue, we saw 2 grooms sitting there, wearing similar clothes. On inquiry, we were told that when affluent Baloch gets married, the family on the same day, using the same venue, have a less fortunate person of their family or servants, get married too (grammar check please ..). So this friend was hiving his servant getting married along with him. As I mentioned, they were wearing equal quality clothes (same clothes) and sitting on the stage, together.
I found that tradition very heart warming. I am not sure if its common amongst all Balochs or just few tribes.
Are you aware of other traditions that you found beautiful and willing to share.
With all due respect, dancing hijras dont give me a vision of a 'beautiful' tradition.
One more which is very amazingly quite common on both east and west of Pakistan, but not that common in Pakistan, is whole family eating from the same platter.
In rural Sindh, there is no khana on bride's side. There is only Valima on groom's side. On wedding day, bride's family is provided with food by the groom's family. This is a good tradition that lessen the burden of the brides family.
Last week, I was watching Marvi Memon’s interview on Geo TV where they show her attending a wedding in Thatta, Sindh.. In the background, they played ‘Iss parcham ke saye talle hum ek hain’
