Tens of thousands of pounds are spent on weddings, yet we always find something to complain about. Maybe the food was too spicy, or the brides outfit wasn’t to our taste. Maybe the wedding cake was sponge when we would have preferred chocolate etc etc.
So lets have a positive thread about weddings for a nice change.
Tell us about the best wedding you’ve attended and why you’ve chosen to submit it to this thread.
Lol, I guess I should have added that you aren't allowed to choose your own wedding!
The best wedding I've ever been to (so far) was a lovely saturday wedding - weather was beautiful, we all went to the masjid for the nikah and then made our way to the reception venue where the food was amazinggggg, everything ran on time, bride and groom cut the cake and we were home by 6pm!
The best weddings are the one where the bride and groom and family dont take themselves too serious. They leave the stress behind and just have fun :)) (... wish it was that easy though lol)
outside of my own, it would be my hubby's cousin's. i've spoken about it before somewhere on GS, but in a nutshell, it was a jewish wedding at the fairmont in toronto. ceremony was in this gorgeous, frescoed room and the reception in another ballroom. decorations were stunning, food was great, the best part was the 7 piece band they'd hired who were AH-MAY-ZING!
My uncle ( dad’s cousin) had the best wedding so far. Everything was perfect, the venue, food, music, dancing, guests, cake, stage, singers, entertainment for children ( to keep them away from the actual hall), the bride and groom’s entrance. I posted some of the pics on facebook and people got a bit carried away with the comments. Bless them
It was a very long wedding. We got there for 4pm and we all left around 11.30pm. I’m not complaining because I actually prefer long weddings ( if they’re fun).
my friends wedding which was a few years ago. Mehndi was segregated, only women so we all had fun. Plenty of dancing and joking about. The men stayed in the house watched football and played pool.
The wedding day was excellent, the imaam came and gave a speech and the whole lot was done-doodh pilai and jooti chupay etc etc. everyone sat with their own families.
the walima was great as well, the music wasn't too loud like it is in most places. You could actually hear the other person speak! Food was excellent on all 3 days. Also it was probably one of the few weddings that didn't seem to have someone being angry at someone else.
I loved the way my nikkah was done...and i loved the fact that all my loved ones were there because they loved me and i honestly felt it. Except for the man that sang nasheeds too loud and for too long..it was just perfect, at least for me.
Most weddings in UK that I've attended start around 12pm-ish, I've only ever been to two that were night events
Really? Most weddings where I live are in the evening. I hate it when you get a card that states a 6pm start, and food is served closer to 10pm! Sandwiches anyone?
I know that I definitely want a day/early afternoon wedding :)

Same, most weddings I've been to in the UK have been afternoon events.
The best wedding I've been to was probably my cousins, everything was amazing. The food, the decor, the venue etc. The main thing she got right was the number of guests she invited. It wasn't one of those crazily overcrowded weddings so everything went smoothly and according to plan.
My cousins wedding in Boston and then the Walima in Texas. It was just perfect! Everything went so smoothly, couple looked AMAZING, food was delish, decor was beautiful, DJ was great and best of all it was the 're union' wedding, where EVERYONE got together. I hadn't seen some of my cousins and family in over 10 years so it was absolutely fabulous, I think the fact that so many of us flew over to the states was lovely too, it really showed people cared and brought us all together.
My cousin's wedding (several years ago) was the best I've attended IMO. Took place in the Mariott Hotel. She had sort of an Aladdin theme to it....with beautiful shimmering drapes hung from the walls...(pinks, oranges, lime greens)...the lights were deliberately dimmed to make the vivid colors stand out and also to create a sort of magical/alluring ambiance.
Program guides were given..............and everything went right according to schedule. They stuck to the program....the bride and groom entered on time.......speeches took place on time....it just flowed so well. And people remembered that it was super ORGANIZED.
