Best supplements to take for WEIGHT LOSS?!

Hi,

I know there are a million posts on weight loss but I really need to know what are the best supplements (vitamin, diet supplements etc) to take when losing weight.

Currently I am:

  • consuming less than 1200-1400 calories a day
  • exercising 3-4 times a week at gym (30 mins cross trainer / 30 mins treadmill)
  • drinking 2 litres of water a day
  • eating fruit and veg daily

I only drink peppermint tea once a day as I don’t like green tea.

What else should I be doing or taking?

I don’t want to be on a crash diet as there is no point of losing a lot of weight and then gaining it back couple of months later. I want to get into a routine of healthy living, eating the right foods, smaller portions etc

I am 5ft’3 and 75kg as I gained a lot of weight during university.

I don’t know what vitamins I should take though e.g. multivitamin once a day or iron/folic acid/water retention tablets daily, slimming teas, alli weight loss supplement etc

PLEASE HELP, totally confused.

Thanks x

Re: Best supplements to take for WEIGHT LOSS?!

Don't take any slimming pills they will only mess up your metabolism in the long run. The best way is the way that you've started - healthy eating and exercise. Try incorporating some weights, lunges and squats in your regime.

Make sure you consume healthy calories and eat complex carbs rather than processed.
Snack on fruit, veggies and protiens

Drink Green tea it increases metabolism
Drink water diluted with honey in the morning it kinda kills your hunger
Drink lemon water, cleanses your system
Have apple cider vinegar
Take 2 spoonfuls of L-carnitine (gives you energy)
drink protien shakes before workouts rather than full meals
take a good omega 3 supplement and a spoonful of flaxseed oil.

DO NOT TAKE SLIMMING PILLS/SUPPLEMENTS - DO IT THE RIGHT WAY!

Re: Best supplements to take for WEIGHT LOSS?!

^very good suggestion by "puchi kuchi" you dont need any slimming tabs or powders. I guess only supplement i am gonna recommend is protein which is of no use if your protein intake is already good.

1200-1400 calories are good infact your whole diet routine is very good. i am 100% sure that your are going to lose weight (in fact FAT) on your current routine. Just keep doing it.
and may be increase your water intake to atleast 3 liters/day.

Questions::
how long you been working out?
what is your macros ratio?

Re: Best supplements to take for WEIGHT LOSS?!

btw. if you are looking for multi vitamin then go for Animal Pak. Its very pure and specifically made for trainers. I have personally used it and its very good.

Re: Best supplements to take for WEIGHT LOSS?!

Thanks guys I really appreciate the support.

I rang the doctor today and he basically he said there’s no point in taking vitamin supplements as it gets metabolised in your body and excreted pretty quick anyway. He said best way to get the right nutrients is from what you eat. He said its false hope when you solely rely on slimming supplements as weight loss should be a lifestyle change and not for a couple of months.

The biggest problem for me is that before my diet was mainly carbs hence I put on so much weight, which is bad for you in high amounts. A typical day for me is (this is a rough example):

  • I drink my 2 litres of water whilst I’m at work (9am - 5pm)
  • Breakfast **- either weetabix with semi-skimmed milk (160-200 calories) **or couple of nuts and fruit or low fat/calorie yoghurt (65 calories) and a cereal bar (65 calories)
  • Lunch – carrot sticks with low fat dip (I don’t eat a lot of the dip though) with one small naan bread followed by banana **or **a sandwich (300 - 350 calories) **or **salad with egg
  • *Dinner *– chicken soup **or **vegetable, lentil soup etc with one slice of bread

When I’m at work I snack on a few nuts and pumpkin seeds during the day and have at least 3-4 portions of fruit from (9-5pm).

I eat different things everyday as I get bored quite easily. I live away from home from Monday-Friday so on weekends I do find it very hard to keep eating healthy. So I eat whatever my mum has made but make sure it’s in small portions and I chew very slowly.

I have been eating healthy for about 3 weeks now and have been going to the gym regular for 1 and a half weeks now.

Also when I go to the gym I probably consume between 500ml – 1 litre of water so I guess I should ensure 3 litres of water a day.

Like I said I need to consume less carbohydrates cos I reckon I eat too many carbs. I have lost 3-4 lbs but my final aim is three stone before the end of the year so I need to motivate myself the natural way which is hard!

I’ve heard quite a few reviews on this paiyouji tea, any good? I guess if it is a herbal tea it can’t be bad for you right?

Re: Best supplements to take for WEIGHT LOSS?!

Do some housework like pocha lagana, cleaning the washroom etc and you'll lose weight in no time.

Re: Best supplements to take for WEIGHT LOSS?!

Please dont take a weight loss supplement. It can cause a lot of problems in the long run. Just eat right and try to work out. Change your work out routine every other day. Try to play a sport that you enjoy, join a dance class. ETC.

I'm trying to do the same thing you, and making a lifestyle change. I am about lbs away from my goal. It gets easier and easier as time goes by.

Re: Best supplements to take for WEIGHT LOSS?!

Yesterday at the gym I tried 30 minutes on the treadmill doing:

4 minute walking fast uphill at the highest gradient (between 10-15) and then 4 minute running and then back to 4 minute walking fast uphill.

It really really made me sweat but I burned above 300+ calories.

Try it and see how you get on..

Re: Best supplements to take for WEIGHT LOSS?!

yaar any reviews about seven seas tablets ( food supplement)....

Hello,
I am studying to become a personal trainer so I can put forth all the information I have learned so far. There are no such supplements that could help you loose weight. The only healthy option to loose weight is through fat burn which is only possible through exercise. You have mentioned that you workout for 30 min a day for 3-4days/week but in order to loose weight you should exercise for at least 60min/day for preferably all days of the week and at least 5days/week.Try doing cardio for 30-40 min and do stretches for the rest of the time -dont forget to do the warm up and cool down forr 5-7min.To loose weight in a healthy manner you should consume at least 1100 calories/day. If you eating the vegetables and the fruits then you don't have to worry about your vitamins or minerals. Not to forget that if you are working and you think you haven't lost any weight that means that the weight lost by fat consumption has been replaced by the amount of muscles made which is good because muscles have a greater metabolic rate. Just watch your diet, dont eat any junk food and exercise regularly and you will loose weight in a healthy manner. it is best if you are loosing about 2 pounds/2 weeks. Good luck and feel free to ask me if you need any help or if you have further questions.

Re: Best supplements to take for WEIGHT LOSS?!

Thanks Alyna.

I am doing 60 minutes a day and ensuring that I warm up and cool down. It is annoying as the weight loss is going slow but as I am on no crazy diet this is expected.

I am working out 3-4 times a week but I am trying to do 5 times a week in order to see maximum effect.

My biggest trouble area is my stomach as all the fat is accumulated there. Any advice to burn as much fat from the stomach area?

My pleasure Tahiya,
It is good that u r trying to make physical activity a part of your lifestyle but to see more evident results try doing 60-90 min/day on minimum of 5 and preferably all days of the week. Unfortunately, there is no exercise for a specific part of the body because with exercise u loose overall fat...but keep your hopes high and im sure you will reach your target goal. :)

Re: Best supplements to take for WEIGHT LOSS?!

the best way is burn more then you eat...exercise everyday because fat is accumalated all over the body and not just any one part...reduce fizzy drinks sweets oily fried stuff carbs intake etc..green tea really boaasts up metabolism go for ot three or four times a day it is anti aging and anti cancerous as wel accoring to som reseachers..take part in house chores they r also quite helpful in burning those extra pounds..use staircase instea of elevators...
vegetables fruits n very less meat preferablly white shu b eaten...weight loss is a time consuming and stamina bearing process..the journey may b a little tiring but the end product wud b a slim n smart u...
