I will go with Nexus 7 2013 version, better display and hardware than Apple iPad mini and better software support than Galaxy Note 8.0

Right then, me also going for google nexus 7 ( 2013) model. Have read great reviews about it too.

@lilly, do get 2013 model, its faster and has a primary camera too.

We have 2 of the Nexus 7's in our household..the 1st generation one and now the newer version that we just bought for our kids and I LOVE them!!!
