The uk is a good base for Europe. and you have a better chance of marry a local low class single parent and therefore that a brit passport....you can then go to the us and earn more than you would here...depending upon your education of course!

im 22 and i just came back from Jumma (friday) prayer. the mosque in here is bigger than the my local mosque in Faisalabad. the only thing muslims cant do here is that they are not allowed the Azan or there arnt any holidays on EID and stuff. but HEY there is only soo much you can ask for!!!
My folks back home were worried when i came here 3 years ago (just after sept 11) but the people here have been so amazing!
as for the voting is concerened, if ur a commenwealth citizen and ur studing in the UK for more than 6 months = u can vote.
i voted LABOUR by the way!!

Let’s analyze with some empirical evidence. I say if the biggest, the most vocal, ardent and the strongest, fervent passionate, zealous and fanatical opponent of the Unites States (our very own CM) can come and settle here and is willing to live and work here, it must not be such a bad place. Think about it.

Be prepared to be finger printed and mug shot at the airport.
If your name has common Islamic name or names (first, middle, or last), congratulations! You have made the TSA's No-fly/Watch List. You'll be hassled at all US airports for domestic travel.
International travel will be another nightmare. If you are travelling to the US from the UK (this is after you have established your immigrant status in the US, and bullet item 1 applies to you), be prepared to be interviewed by the Special Branch (if you are a US citizen). Once you arrive in the US, be prepared to be whisked by the US Customs to the interview room for more 'talk'. This is what happens to the US citizens who are muslims and have travelled back from the UK. They can read any/all documents in your possession under the Patriot Act. They can ask for your credit cards, banks cards or anything else in your wallet. Sweet isn't it?

as a brit-yank-pak I can honestly say that unless you are in some backwater town like wichita kansas or subuque iowa the ability to stay in touch with your roots is very much present in the US. NYC, DC, Chicago, LA, Houston, san Fran for example. but then again..if you go to some backwater town in the UK you will not have the same ability to stay in touch with your roots either.
People talk about the prejudice in US for ay-rabs and us which is real especially in the same backwater towns and motsly redneckish folks aside from some of the ultra right wingers, which is not much different from that in UK.
One advantage that US has for now is that the levels of idiotic pakistanis of teh kid you find in Uk are not so high as to spoil it for the rest of us. UK unfortunately has these people in large numbers, people who will not fit in a civilized event in a pakistani city let alone in the west. Its the same kind of people whose arrival spoiled it for pakistanis in the middle east as well i.e, your typical low class, jahil, #2 kaam expert, law breaking, person.

Given that that both of my parents and my sister-in-law were voting in British national and local elections before gaining british citizenship, the law probably exists.
Basically, before every election the government drops a form in every household in the country stating who they believe is eligable to vote at the address. When my parents got that they read the attached rules and found that they could vote. So they replied on the form that they were pakistani citizens who were resident in the UK, and thus got included on the voter list and cast the first of many votes by my family for the Conservative party.
Of course at the time they lived in a Labour stronghold, so it was practically throwing the vote away. But now, all of my family in the UK have sold their property and bought into areas where the Conservatives have never lost in decades…

This is true.
It’s also true that there are educated and very successful Pakistanis in UK as well. I personally know quite a few in London – Finance, medicine, law, etc.
Do you think that in UK, Pakistanis/Muslims have a larger political clount than US? In the US, we have absolutley zip political clout!

people in "pinds" of pakistan dont even follow zaat stuff.
