Ive been living in scotland from 3 years now and i think it is an amazing place like!!(other than the weather) i have only once suffered from rascist remarks but other than that its all been good. im planning to undergo further studiess in USA and was wondering if u guys could make any comments on the pros and cons regarding the 2 countries.
i have never voted in pakintan but i was allowed to vote here yesterday and i think this is just 1 of the things what make me admire UK so much!!

won't you have to be a US citizen to vote there? UK might be better for Pakistanis. From what I hear, it's less racist than the US and it isn't as obsessed as the US with trying to harass any Muslim-looking or Muslim-sounding people.

Pakistani citizens can vote in the UK as long as they have residency there. Any citizen of a member nation of the British Commonwealth with residency can vote in British elections.

Stay in the Uk if you still want to keep in touch with your roots. Otherwise go to the USA if you're not bothered.

Maddie.. does that apply to commonwealth students as well? How come I never knew about this law when I was there? I thought you had to be a citizen of the UK to vote. How about competing for an office? Can a non-Citizen run for an elected office there? Anyway my condolences to you for the Labour win. I am truly sorry about that. I know how you love your Conservatives.

Sheikh Madhanee lives in the USA...but his heart is always in Punjab...either way I am not sure if that fact makes the US or Punjab a better place to live in?

Today's America is not Muslim-immigrant friendly. If you are young i.e. university age, you are better off in UK.

In order to vote, you must simply be a British citizen, a citizen of another Commonwealth country or of the Irish Republic, as well as being resident in the UK, aged 18 or over, included in the register of electors for the constituency and not subject to any legal incapacity to vote.

Maddie, Are these laws for real? These laws are like, you can legally own a gun, but you cannot legally buy one. Is there a voter list that identifies all foreign Commonwealth nationals who are registered to vote? And also if there has been any non UK member of the Parliament ever elected to an office. Are Commonwealth citizens exempt from Visa restrictions?

Only rejects go to Canadia. Canada is like generic cola. Brand name baby, brand name. Anyway, most Pakis in Canada want to come to the US. Poor people. After 911, the illegal Pakis went to Canada, as a second choice.
