Best Pakistani Commentators

Who do u think is the best pakistani english commentator..

  1. Rameez Raja
  2. Aamir Suhail ( no more available now… i wander what he is doing now)
  3. Waqar Younis
  4. Wasim Akram
  5. Imran Khan. ( i wouldn’t call him a commentator mostly called as an expert).

Re: Best Pakistani Commentators

Anyone but Amir.

Re: Best Pakistani Commentators

i think this guy imran munshi was good....

Re: Best Pakistani Commentators

I will probably hit the mute button when aamir and wasim akram are commentators! Imran, waqar, and since there is no1 else raja!

Re: Best Pakistani Commentators

Hasan Jaleel was pretty good for Urdu commentary.

Re: Best Pakistani Commentators

Ramiz Raja OFF COURSE

Re: Best Pakistani Commentators

Ramiz is usually so diplomatic and politcally correct that its boring. Waqar is hilarious, especially when he get emotional. Amir is just a pain to listen to, the whiner.

Re: Best Pakistani Commentators

i would go for ramiz, imran and wasim plus i was very impressed by mohammad akram during his thoughts over the pak eng series even though he was not the commentator but he can surely make a good one i guess

Re: Best Pakistani Commentators

How can you even put aamir and waqar in this list. I pray to God that I dont have to see the day when Waqar and aamir are sitting in the commentary box together. I think I will sue the boradcasters for the mental torture.

Re: Best Pakistani Commentators

in my opinion rameez raja is probably the best pakistani commentator. i know a lot of people say tht he's too diplomatic and boring but hey commentating in cricket was never meant to be too slam-bam like in boxing or wrestling, so i got not much problems with raja.

besides everones got a personality of his own, if raja's personality is such, then so be it. the good thing is that he's pretty articulate and does remain balanced throughout which in my opinion is a good trait for a cricket commentator. as for the others, like waqar/sohail they're nothin more than a bunch of jokers who frankly dont know a squat about the commentating profession.
wasim was still sort of okey dokey but somehow one gets the feeling that he is a little too full of himself at times(not a good trait for a commentator). he does hide it well but it invariably shows up time and again in his commentating. besides tht, he's kinda ok too.

Re: Best Pakistani Commentators

What about the best Indian commentator? I would say Sanjay Manrekar, though there isn't any competition.

Re: Best Pakistani Commentators

^ how about Sidhu..:D

Re: Best Pakistani Commentators

I haven;t heard Waqar yet ... so can't comment about him... But its good to know that we have consensus that Aamir Suhail is one of the worst commentators and good to see him leave the field.. the mute button was perfect for him ..

Rameez Raja has definitly improved a lot...

Waseem akram didn;t live upto his potential... he is a cricketer with lot of brain and also at ease with english but still he didn;t manage to deliver... i expected him to be better than Rameez ...

Re: Best Pakistani Commentators

Shastri. He doesnt side either or, even when commentating in India v Pak matches. Shoulda heard him during Afridi’s kanpur massacre.. unlike Arun LOL who was wetting his underwear, Shastri was having a great time.

Sanjay is alright but he likes to kiss ass alot, especially Tendu’s. Otherwise he is okay.. sometimes his accent gets fudged up but thats okay. And lay off the pink shirts please!

And the worst ever commentator that ive heard from India’s side is Arun LOL. It seems hes partially being paid by Rediff.com as well. During pak innings, for every shot thats hit, instead of appreciating the batsman he’s pointing out faults within bowlers. And then during Indian innings its all about wonderful Sehwag wonderful Tendu wonderful Dhoni. He should never be allowed to commentate again.

Sincerely,
Captain Lota

Re: Best Pakistani Commentators

please dont be unfair and put sanjay manjrekar as the best indi commentator, it would be unfair to a lot of other guys. here is the actual top 5 indian commentators in my opinion:
1 harsha bogle(this guy is a class act, the best in the business)
2 ravi shastri (very direct and to the point, good strong voice)
3 darain shahidi (sticks to hindi+urdu but is pretty good)
4 navjot sidhu(despite over the top one liners, this guy is a good entertainer)
5 anil kumble???(yes, i once heard him do it when he was injured and LIKED it)
sanjay manjrekar is like a lot like rameez, articulate but boring.

the global top 10 for commentating in cricket is as follows:
1. harsha bogle & kerry o keefe (tie)(harsha:gr8 mix of enthusiasm, professionalism and cricketing knowledge; Keefe: entertaining with his anecdotes, made a good combo along with harsha on ABC(aus).)
2. peter roebuck (this guy's an out and out pro)
3. ian healy (a bit new but keeps it simple and smart gr8 future as a commentator)
4. tony greig
5. tony cozier
6. geoffrey boycott(old school englishman, but top notch commentary)
7. ravi shastri (good overall persona, strong voice and very straight talking)
8. ian chappel (a little lame with humor, but brilliant analysis)
9. richie benaud
10 paul allott

the other contenders who narrowly missed the global top 10 were: mark nicholas, mike slater, jim maxwell, michael holding, nasser hussain, sidhu, shane warne(yup, he's a gr8 commentator if u watched the ind-australia 2004 series on ABC in australia)
my sole basis for the list was commentating merit and nothing else so dont accuse me of being partial to goras or anything.

Re: Best Pakistani Commentators

No one.

But since there isn't much choice, I would put up with the stuttering Rameez.

Waqar is a joke. I have better views than him MOST of the time

Aamer is not credible enough to be heard

Imran is good but he rarely shows up

Hasan Jaleel??? he is running radio commentary man..good narrator but that's about it. He didn't even know the LBW law in it's entirety.

Re: Best Pakistani Commentators

Sanjay Manjrekar and even Harsha are good decent commentators. Specially Manjrekar. He speaks his mind and is very easy to listen to.

Re: Best Pakistani Commentators

Ian Chapell is my all time favorite. Good analysis coupled with great anecdotes to relate the current situation with the past.

Michael Holding at times seems is holding back a lot of info. I think he can be a good commentator if he talk a little more and freely.

Richie Benaud's aura is huge and I guess it would be going against the norm to dislike him. I actually love it when he is with Ian.

Mark Taylor is good too.

David Llyod is entertaining and goofy

Paul Allott sucks

Bob Willis is good with analyzing the game but too dull to keep me awake.

You know who I miss the most, Najvot Singh Sidhu...yeah he was more of a comedian but still.

Oh and speaking of comedian, I like Deano too.

Re: Best Pakistani Commentators

i say put waqar and wasim in as a team …
the 2 W’s together again  … in the commentary box

Re: Best Pakistani Commentators

Anyone who is old enough to have heard Iftikhar Ahmad and Chisti Mujahid will not put these former cricketers at par with them. Commentating is a much different skill set than playing the game, although in recent times all former players try to get into the commentary box as they are paid good $$$ and they can remain affiliated with the game they love so much.

I really want to like Ramiz, since he speaks correct english and doesn't get into desi-style "but-aaaaaaaaa" and "ummmmmmmm's", however he tries overly hard to appear unbiased. And when he is co-commenting with a totally biased English commentator, it makes a Pakistani supporting fume. English aside, Waqar is not that bad. But, for a Pak supporter, watching the Eng-Pak series, I prefer Sanjay over any of our Pak commentators. Pretty unfortunate, but true.
