it's not the shade but rather the formula that makes a difference, they probably won't be using ur stuff b/c mainstream makeup is not the same as wedding/fotog/stage makeup. and the foundation ull use for every day is probably not going to be the same shade that u use on wedding/on stage.
Btw, the few times i had professional makeup, they used Mac on me..and it looked superb
a lot of artists do use MAC for events. it depends on the requirement. artists working primarily for film or camera use cosmetics made for that purpose. ok MAC might not be the best choice for the camera but it certainly isn't the worst and usually gives a great finish in real life.
It's not so much the brand, it's the application! The way u use u're colors and blending are very important. If u're confident enuff and blv u can do a good job, go for it! You urself know u're face the best..
It also depends on what type of foundation u use coz i used 2 use a mineralize foundation by mac and i found in photos and on the camra my skin looked dull, but then my cousin told me 2 use mac's full coverage which is for camras and photos and my skin looked flawless.
mac has loads of foundations as do other brands so u should go to the counter and check them

I really don't think a person's wedding is the time to do their own makeup. Heck, even if you have a friend who's a professional makeup artist see if they'll do it for the wedding gift. Brides have too much going on do deal with their own makeup, and they're hardly ever good enough to do it themselves. I would not even do my own makeup at my own wedding, and this is what I do for a living. You need someone with an objective eye to look at you and take care of you.
Plus lots of makeup artists have packages where they will actually attend the functions and perform touch-ups on the bride.

I worked a job that I found to be very sad. A woman paid quite a bit of money to have her makeup done for some photo's, and the artist used MAC. Unfortunately, the photo's turned out so bad that she couldn't use them and found me. I used better quality makeup and her photo's came out wonderfully.
The type of makeup matters, but brand names don't.
MAC is meant for every day use. It's not meant for important functions or photography reasons.
The girl who did my bridal makeup was a trained Mac MUA from NY and she used ALL mac products on me. My makeup turned out to be amazing and lasted over 12 hours. Not just for my wedding day, she did it for all 5 of my events and continues to for any shaadi, etc I have to attend. Infact for a recent photoshoot with my husband on our 3 months anniversary, I had it done again at Mac and the pics turned out beautiful. I don't see a reason why MAC shouldn't be one of bride's options.

A few friends and cousins have used MAC for makeup and they looked STUNNING. At the same time, I've seen desi friends go to desi parlours here in california and the result wasn't that great. I think it just depends on who you get it done from and whether they understand what you want.
I've seen some REALLY nice makeup in Pakistan as well, again, it's WHO you get it done from.
Random question but Is it just me or is the style of indian bridal makeup different than Pakistani?
I'm not trying start a feud or anything, I've just noticed that they seem different...kind of like their bridal lehngas and stuff too.
I agree, it depends on the MUA and what products/how they use it. I agree that indian makeup is very different than paki, I think pakistani brides have a more modern look.

Trained by MAC really means nothing in our industry (it doesn't license you, and it's a running joke that MAC counter girls look like poorly done drag queens, heh).
Again, I'm speaking from an industry perspective. If you're not in it, you're not likely to know much about it.
I would refuse to use MAC for ethical reasons, as well as quality reasons.
As I said, you couldn't pay me to use MAC on someone.

She's a trained MUA who has done makeup for actors/models/etc. I think a client's opinion is far more valuable than what your 'industry' think.. because seems the latter's opinions are quite shallow and egoistic. It's natural that when your own competitor starts to do better than yourself, one tends to put them down :) They might look like drag queens where you are but here, they are made up quite stylishly. Who cares what the insiders in your industry are saying? I am gonna go with my own experiences and judge them by their work.. not by other stylists' opinions who think they are better than anyone else. And frankly my dear, noone is offering to pay you anything to use their products, we are happily buying them ourselves. Peace.
ok ppl complaining bout wrong make up techinques on diff facial features... chill out.
make up artsits in pakiland have learned a thing or 2 you know... and have begun to churn out beautiful looking brides in very natural makeup.
just havta find a reputable parlour and see their work.
yeah, u are right...
but i think its mainly Lahore, karachi and islamabad that has these amazing amazing artists and beauty parlors, that are well known by everyone (specially Lahore, thats like the best place to get married in )...other smaller cities like multan, saahiwal, jehlum, faisalabad etc still do have a shortage of makeup artists of that caliber... i am not saying that there are none in those cities...but definitely not the same thing as lahore for example...and they are not as well known ...
it totally depends on who you get for your makeup...
desi beauticians, living and working in US and Canada i think are the worst (yes i am generalizing but thats the norm)...mostly these aunties are infact using inferior quality of makeup (as buying good professional makeup is an expensive investment, and they dont wanna make the investment) , and they arent even properly trained, sure they claim they have done this course or that from depilex or what not from back home, but when u go to them for trials u realize how lacking they are in good professional makeup supplies, and also u realize they have taken this makeup business up as a career only after moving to US and arent properly trained...
so compared to these ladies, i think the makeup artists in pakistan are still much much better... if u have concerns about looking ghostly, then go for a trial, and see what foundation the artist puts on, and how it looks in pictures and in reality..
^ i disagree about US and canada..well at least canada.. i think after Pakistan, canada, esp Toronto, has some of hte best desi makeup artists, ask most TO-ers and htey can give you five top names off the top of their heads...sadly NY and US is lacking alot of those, in NY esp we have just a select handful who are well known.
Personally i'd love to actually train in pakistan and come here and do here what they do there, is that really realistic????

yeah I know a few girls who like got trained at Depilex and stuff and came here and work here. They do makeup really well.
But yeah, most of the time they're like amateur aunties with like nothing better to do. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but like DON'T act like you're professionally trained and deceive people.
No to be honest i think i'l do my make up myself on the Nikah and mehndi.
Im not really much of a foundation person, plus because we live in a small village in pakistan i don't think beauticians are going to be willing to come there all the time.
Dont worry it will all work out, have you got any family in pakistan? or friends that got married there?
Not Really!!! :( I need the help of anyone on this forum who knows Jhelum area

Jehlum is a small city. I would advise you to go for bridal make up from a bigger city which is at a drivable distance. I don't know how far Lahore or even faislabad are from Jelhlum but find out and see if you can wing that. If not, then if you are considereing a Jehlum parlour then you have to let them know before hand what you want. Most people in smaller cities still go for lighter shades of foundation. To be fair, in Pakistan fair is considered beautiful and everyone wants people to tell them they are looking lovely on their specail day.
That said, if you don't want to look too white, emphasize that part a lot!! And tell them before hand that you will look at the foundation and may ask to tone it down (or up). Other than that, the eye make up may be something you might want to talk to them about. Eg if you have ferozi or blue in your bridal dress you may not want a dark shade of that color on your eyes. Other than that you should be fine. I am sure you can get a booking when you go there and try to find one. tell them you wnat model make up and not bridal as that's a term most parlours use if a toned down look is what you are after.
Tell them (after you have negotiated the bridal pacakage price) that you are from abroad and don't want a very hevay make up look).
. You already ahve a few names down, just go and talk to them and see which ones you like. Its a small city and I am sure they can accomaodate your needs and get you booked at teh last moment even. Hope that helps!!
