Could anyone please advise which make-up brand would be best to take with me to Pakistan when i get married for my bridal make-up? im thinkng of getting a beautician there but want to take my own foundation for perfect colour match (also will do my own make-up for Mehndi).
Bearing in mind the hot weather conditions which brands do you think would give full coverage and stay matt throughout the day?
Have posted a couple of other threads but have had no response hope somebody will help me with this one.
It's fine you're doing your own mehndi makeup but for the baraat, when you go to a parlor, the makeup artist will not use your foundation. They have specific cosmetics they use, keeping in mind the lights and cameras and heat etc. They are specifically made for stage events. Your foundation won't help you much so you shouldn't really waste big $$ on buying something out of this world.
If you're adamant about this foundation business, I suggest you contact your makeup artist ahead of time and ask him/her if they will accept that -- 'then' go ahead and spend $$ on it.
^ This is what we found too. My cousin took her own foundation to the beauty palour and the beautician freaked out, telling her to do her own make-up if she thought their make-up was inferior. We were shocked to witness all this as she was really rude and making a mountain out of a molehill. Definately check ahead to see if it's okay to take your own beauty products. In their defence though, they do use tried and tested products that DO (hopefully) resist, sun, sea, sand and everything else a wedding in tropical country, like PK, throws at you!

Congratulations on your wedding! :)
Many thanks
The problem is i would contact them but i don't have any contacts for parlours in Jhelum i know of a few good names Morning Glory, Beauty Spot, Mehwish and Splender but don't have any contacts details whatsoever i have been trailing the net trying to find but no luck!!
If anyone can help me with this i would very much apprecite it - i'm really worried as i rarely travel to Pakistan so wouldn't really know where to go for any of my shopping!!:(
Don't get your heart set on any brand. I am a professional makeup artist (who works with brides and in the fashion industry). I use many cosmetics that most people have never heard of, because they are not meant for mainstream use. They are meant specifically for photography and professional use. Those foundations you get at the drugstore or even places like MAC are not suitable for your wedding. Please, just look at the portfolio of your makeup artist and decide if you like the look she/he gives. That's all that matters.
If a bride came to me with any foundation, I would refuse to use it. This is my business. I have educated myself on what products are best and perfected my use of them over the years. Don't assume that brand name is best. We know what we're doing :)
And I would always, ALWAYS suggest that any bride seek out a makeup artist for all of their functions. Yes, it costs more, but we will ensure that you get the best look possible. You only get one wedding (hopefully), so it's not the time for you to try to wing it. Always go to a professional.
It's less stress for you, and you'll look fabulous.

Thanks for your very helpful advice you know what your right maybe i should get a beutician for the Mehndi too i do want to look my best :) xx
relax dulhans... beauticians and make up artists in pakiland know exactly what they are doing... infact even once ure ready at the parlour ure gonna hate how u look.. but once make up settles and as the night moves on... and once u get ure pics and vids... ure gonna think WOW.... so chilll out and let the make up artist do what she knows... meddle and ure gonna mess up on ure own make up...
and whatever u do, please dont give orders in english... my order in english for light make up resulted in me being a bhoot on my engagement day... and this was at zara's.
but my bridal make up was superb! i kept on cringing at the amount of heavy foundation she was using (kryolan)..but i just kept my mouth shut... it looked amazing once she was done... wasnt even cakey..
they have their own foundation sticks that stand up to heat, light, anything really :D dont think my max factor foundation would have managed to do the trick ...
Hi definitely a beautician, especially for the main two days. Ive heard of one that did my friend and she lukd gorgeous mashallah,
Im really worried about the foundation thing in Pakistan though, they try to make everyone look white and you end up looking like a bhoot.
What about the Mehndi do you think you will get that done from Beauticians?? I wouldn't wear much make-up on this day so don't know if it would be worth it however i will still need a good foundation - that will stay looking matt in Hot weather!!

No to be honest i think i'l do my make up myself on the Nikah and mehndi.
Im not really much of a foundation person, plus because we live in a small village in pakistan i don't think beauticians are going to be willing to come there all the time.
Dont worry it will all work out, have you got any family in pakistan? or friends that got married there?
Its not the brand of makeup thats the issue. Its the shade. Why pakistanis refuse to accept that they are not a shade of ivory is beyond me. I find it insulting that they would refuse to accept a good brand in a realistic shade. Afterall its the bride thats on display looking like a ghostly idiot not the makeup artist. I say this from a makeup artists view as well as from a clients point.

i agree completely. in england i wouldn't imagine doing my own make-up. almost no way in pakistan (where i'm getting married anyway). what's available in most of the cities/towns is what you have described. not only that but they will do harsh blush lines in the same place on every bride regardless of the features. the same kind of eye make-up regardless of her eye shape. heavy black eye-liner doesn't suit everyone!

it's not the shade but rather the formula that makes a difference, they probably won't be using ur stuff b/c mainstream makeup is not the same as wedding/fotog/stage makeup. and the foundation ull use for every day is probably not going to be the same shade that u use on wedding/on stage.
Btw, the few times i had professional makeup, they used Mac on me..and it looked superb
