Best Batsman of the 90's

Who in your opinion is the BEST TEST batsman Pakistan has produced in the 90’s. Please give ONLY ONE name. I would appreciate if we avoid long discussion and ONLY come up with ONE name and maybe a couple of supporting comments…

Inzamam-ul-Haq : Test average of around 50.

Agreed, Inzimam.

Considering the present form of youhana, he is as good as Inzimam.

Since the question posed was , " Who was the best batsman produced by Pakistan in 90s."

Youhana started playing for Pakistan in 1998, so by definition he was also produced by pakistan in 90s. Considering his recent flurry of runs he will surpass Inzi in terms of average and records."

I think it is nail biting contest between Inzimam and Youhana

Yeah its hard to choose b/w Youhana and Inzemam. Inzemam seems to have a little edge but then again this will be a discrimination with Youhana. He just started playing and i guess if he goes on playing like he is for next 2 years he will over power Inzemam.

And one more thing how can you define Best batsman ? Are we talking about statistics or technique ? Because if we are talking about statistics then my above reason is v valid and if we are talking about technique i dont wana leave out Basit Ali.

Note : How can we avoid discussion this is a discussion board :)

OK OK, we can discuss too.

Well I think the criteria is a combination of technique and stats. Basically, the best batsman for Pakistan would be one who contributed most towards its victories and performed when it mattered most. Like Javed Miandad was in the 80's or Zaheer in the 70's.

Basit Ali???. Didn't see much of him but I heard he was like Javed Miandad.

Why isn't anyone considering Saeed Anwar?. To me, it was a close call between Saeed and Inzi. I wasn't even thinking of Yousuf.

Saeed Anwar came in the 80's...

besides I believe Youhanna and Inzamam are better batsmen than Saeed Anwar...

Since you are talking about the 90’s I wouldn’t consider Saeed otherwise I think Saeed would top Inzi and Youhana. When I say that you got a look all these 3 batsmen during their peak time and I think Saeed will be on top.

Anyway coming back to the actual topic I think Inzi has top edge over Youhana for right now and I am sure we will be able to pick one out of these 2 after the SA tour. Youhana didn’t play much against SA and this up coming tour of SA will surely show who is better. Youhana no doubt is a back bone of PAK batting and is a class batsman but I think Inzi is the best. His shots, his techniques, his style and his record shows that all. :k: Since Youhana started in 1998 he could become a better batsman than Inzi but for right now Inzi all the way :k:

when i say 90’s I dont mean when they entered the team.. Saeed started in 88-89 but played throughout the 90’s… so he would be a player of the 90s. :dixsi:

Batsmen who played mainly in the 90’s.

Lets see how they compare in one day international.

span mat inns no runs HS Ave 100s 50s

**Inzamam-ul-Haq** : Overall
  1991-2002 276 260 37 8767 137* 39.31 8 63

**Yousuf Youhana** : Overall
  1998-2002 113 108 17 3844 141* 42.24 7 21

Then why don’t you post the stats of Saeed and Inzi or all 3 of them. Maybe then we will find out who’s the best

If I wanted to decide based on STATS alone, I would look up cricinfo. The reason I started this thread was to get OTHERS opinion.

O yar funguy first of tell me that analyze and funguy is one perso to 2 diff. person. If you look at the thread it was started by analyze it and now u r claiming u started the thread to get ppl opinion.

Saeed was the best Pakistani batsman throughout the 90s.
At his peak, he was unbeatable, his determination, his temperament, his technique, his unique style, his attiutude, made him what an icon he is today.

I would pick Youhana over Inzimam. Inzi had a great early years, around 91-92 where simply destroyed the best bowler in the world.
Youhana may not have that ability in him, but his temprement and concentration and consistency puts him above Inzimam.

And now if you say funguy and analyze is one person then you are contradicting your own statements.

First you started the thread asking for opinions of PAK 90’s best batsman.

Then you post the stats of Inzi and Youhana leaving Saeed out

Then you claim Saeed is considered 90’s batsman

And now you are saying if you wanted to decide based on STATS you could have done that on Cricinof web site, well then whats the point of all these STATS? Just go for the opinion

Perhaps it was better to phrase the question:

Who was the best batsmen of those who played thru out the majority of the 1990's?

In which case Its Inzamam, Youhana will really play most of his cricket in the decade 2000-2010, and he will surpass Inzi in runs, avem reputation and class. Inzi is brilliant, Youhana is too-but Youhana has the knack of scoring when it really matters.

Question bhai, roza tau nahee lug raha jee?. I never posted any stats.

Bro Question, are you being hypoglycemic in fasting, I swear I didn’t start this thread. I do admit posting some stats. I will post comparison stats of yohan, Inzimam and Anwar too.

Mark Waugh and Inzi.
