Best Batsman in Current generation?

Who is the leading test batsman of this generation, say from 1990-today, and why?

Personally, I find it hard to seperate between SW, Lara and Tendulkar, bt on account of the number of match winning knocks he’s played and against the top opposition, I must go for Lara.

Yes SRT is more consistant, but he cant win games on his own, irrespective of his skill,he chokes. Any one who watched the 1999 Aus-WI series on Sky, b4 the WC, will acknowledge Lara’s genius. He drew a series on his own!

He is simply magical, and when on song, the best since Bradman.

Saeed Anwar :D

inzamam :)

Sachin Tendulkar, not a match winner but a great batsman.

Tough call, but Sachin Tendulkar. For having the burdan pressure of 1 billion people, and reaching so many records.

Ditto :k:

Who is that australian guy, making so many centuries at the mo against England?
Matthew Hayden? no?

ofcorse Saeed Anwar…
and Sachin Tendulkar.. no doubt that he’z a great batsman but his innings were useless for his team…whatever he scored. he scored for his own records, not for the country…
while Lara, Inzamam, Anwar… they all are great batsman and play for their country!:jhanda:

I quite agree, if he keep his current performance for couple more years than he will definitely be the greatest of this era.

Heck, the way he is playing currently he might just end up averaging more than 100 runs per inning.

yeh inside information kya Sachin uncle ne di aap ko?

I think the media and people like us have been a little hard on Sachin, specially for the past 2 years where he has been quite inconsistent.
I don't think his intention are to make individual records, he does his best to win the match for his country but his performance under pressure fails.
Though overall he is a great batsman and only if he could steer India to a series win abroad, he will definately accomplish a huge task.

Sachin!!!
He is miles ahead of anyone in the latest era. He came at a time when India did had the retirement of top players like Gavaskar, Ravi shastri, Amarnath, Vegsarkar.

Till Ganguly and Dravid came to join him after 1995, he was the lone batsman. Only Azhar was the other one who was good. Current Indian batsman know that they have a long batting line up to come even if they play some risky shots and get out.

I know many many matches which India won were because of Tendulkar. How can anyone forget the back-to-back centuries he hit against the australians in Sharjah and winning the cup for the country.

Undoubtedly he is the Best.

aap unn key recors ko nahi dekhtey! woh to yahi saabit kartey hain

Brian Lara....without any doubt, the greatest batsman of our generation

for me its Lara, one for his enviable records and then his match-winning innings which he has played frequently then Sachin or Inzimam!

Anwar? Inzamam? :rotfl"

C'mon guys, be real. Anwar was a brilliant batsman, but no where near the best of the generation. Its a 3 way race, with SW, BCL and SRT in contention.

I guess... Best 5 best batsmen of current egenration will be

1.Sachin
2.Sachin
3.Sachin
4.Sachin
5.Lara

as expected of you…

Is this the list of batsmen who don’t have courage to bat under pressure and get bowled when it is time to win big matches for their country? If so, then please take Lara out. The rest is OK. :hehe:

:hehe: :hehe: :hehe:
