best ASIA X1

Guys and gals…
here is this game… we have to choose All time best ASIAN Eleven…

Now I know that selection of team will depend on various factors…like where the game is going to be played, who is the opposition and whether its test cricket or one dayer..

so here is hypothetical situation… this ASIAN eleven will be playing against Todays AUSTRALIAN team in LORDS !!!

Now…how will we go about is this…first we will start looking at openers…once we finalized it then we will move to one down batsman…and so on and so forth…

So..let us get going…

few openers which come to my mind are following … u can add if i Miss someone good…we have to select 2 openers…
Options r …

Gavaskar,
Mudassar,
Saeed Anwar,
Srikanth,
Rameez,
Amir Sohail,
Mohsin Khan,
chetan chauhan,
farrukh Engineer,
Sanath jaysurya,
Intekhb Alam
etc etc

Sorry..>I missed Haneef muhammad

My All Time Asian XI:

  1. Sunil Gavaskar
  2. Hanif Mohammad
  3. Kumar Sangakkara (wk)
  4. Sachin Tendulkar
  5. Javed Miandad
  6. Aravinda de Silva
  7. Imran Khan (c)
  8. Wasim Akram
  9. Abdul Qadir
  10. Muttiah Muralitharan
  11. Waqar Younis http://vtcb.cjb.net

Suhail....

why dont we go oe by one...
I guess people will really differ a lot on this X1 that u said...

but my personal opion about opener is same as urs..
Haneef and gavaskar will be the best

Asia XI without Jaysuria

http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smilies/confused.gif

u must be kidding…

sangakara!!!
i think moin, wasim bari or rashid latif r much better choices…

Sangakkara is a keeper/batsman in the Adam Gilchrist mold and unlike most Asian cricketers can perform against fast bowlers on fast wickets. Sanath Jayasuriya cannot score against quality pace on hard surfaces. http://vtcb.cjb.net

wel I agree Sangrakka is good..but he has just plkayed 10-15 test..he needs to probe himself..
I think wasim, kirmani or farrukh engineer will be btter choice.

talking about surya...keep in mind this team is for TEST meatch in LORDS..

anyway ...why dont we talk about openers ..right now.

Sangakkara at number 3 ahead of Zaheer and Azhar?

whats the deal with this sangakkara, he has only been impressive against westindies and zimbabwe in srilanka.
He played horribly against pakistan in sharjah.
does anyone remember a guy name imran khan

1.) Tendulkur
2.) Miandad
3.) imran Khan

if you want a wicket keeper who can also bat than there is no one better than moin khan.

Thank you, come again

Actually, Sangakkara has impressed me in every series since his debut. By the time he retires, few of you will question his inclusion. No one has forgotten Imran Khan, but most believe he should bat at seven.

Yes..Imran shoul dbe at No 6 or 7.I think for 3,4,5 best guys would be Miandad,Sachin and Zaheer.

Itsmy opiion, let us see what u all think.

talking about sangrakka..If we r talking about Wicket keeper I guess we need the best which is avilable in the skill of wicket keeping and If u look at it then we have only 2 great wicket keepr which subcontinent has produced that is WASIM BARI and SYED KIRMANI.

but anyway ,we will talk about wicket keeper later.let us talk about No 3,4 and 5 .

Jiyo Aur Jeene Do!!!

zaheer abbas - 3
miandad - 4
azaharuddin - 5

how can u take tendulkar abobe azharudin ????
we r playing a test, remember??
and frankly i dont think SRT is a test-player: not better than azahar anyway....

Armughal..you got to see tendulkar's record.

Buddy he has 28 centuries in test matches only next to Bradman and Gavaskar.

Problem is that his one day record is so good that people dont get to see his test records..

i know his records....
but as i have said to many people before, statistics r not always the best reflection of a player....
the guy ait a big-game player....

do u know that shoaib akhtar has a BATTING AVERAGE of 50+ against australia, the highest for any pakistani player against australia....
does it mean akhtar is the best pakistani batsman against aussies????

armughal, Sachin is a must in any team anywhere, just look at his style of batting, he only thinks in fours!

reminds me a bit of Viv Richards!!
