Buy it.

Re: Best Anti-virus suggestions

OK rather than the "best" Av what do you actually use and why?

For my laptop I would buy NOD32 smart security, excellent firewall and AV heuristics. The BEST interface and extremely efficient, critical components written in assembly.

If I had unlimited budget at home, well i would buy an firewall appliance. Provide a proxy firewall, scanning for malware, riskware in real time. Being a proxy firewall it can do so. Not very practical.

What I actually use; Kaspersky. Good scanning based on signatures. Heuristics not as good as NOD32, larger false positive rate too. NOD32 is £39 regardless of where I shop, maybe a few quid cheaper buying in other countries. Can pick up Kaspersky for a £1 in the far east. You only need a licence so takes a few minutes from resellers.

Re: Best Anti-virus suggestions

AVG 8.0 if you have the original license key...

Re: Best Anti-virus suggestions

OneCare ... 4m Mircosoft .. not so heavy ...

Re: Best Anti-virus suggestions

I am looking for the key for kaspersky.

Any help?????

Re: Best Anti-virus suggestions

I've switched to Kaspersky Internet Security after being with AVG for years. I'm impressed with the stuff it detects. So far so good. :)

Re: Best Anti-virus suggestions

download the new avg 8.0 the freeware 1 its with antivirus and anti spyware, its new also

Re: Best Anti-virus suggestions

You have to be REALLY careful while scanning and deleting stuff that Kaspersky detects, I learnt it the hard way when my windows wouldn't start up due to some explorer file gone.

Re: Best Anti-virus suggestions

I have Norton & the free "spyware Doctor"..togather as a team they work great. =)

Oh cool. Thanks for the headz-up! I'll be sure to double-check before deleting anything :)

being using mcafee since 3 years i guess, it is better than avg, kaspersky, and norton just su??? takes over whole system.

we used avg and kaspersky on office system a year back i guess didnt detect the virus in system.

avast seems promising, as my mcafee key has expired may consider switching to avast.

NOD32

Re: Best Anti-virus suggestions

Does Avg 8.0 slow down Pc a bit?

yes n is not as forgiving as the previous version (s). :halo:

Then which one? :bummer:

i’ve been using AVG for the last 3-4 years and the last version 7.5?? was the best. fast and easy to manage/maintain. unfortunately its not being supported anymore by grisoft nor you’ll receive any virus/program upgrades anymore unless you upgrade the version to 8.0 which i think is wrong but then who care wht i think. :chai: as for which one…don’t know…i’m still using AVG even if i don’t like it or it slows down my PC.
