Today, I thought i’d share my experience with you guys about lower body workouts.
Ever seen guys in gym with nice, toned, perfect size upper body but lower body seems like match sticks?.. yes, I was one of those guys once upon a time and i used to hide my legs everytime i used to hit gym.. i was told by someone that " if u ever work your legs, u’ll never be tall ". Let me start off by saying that this is total B.S!. Height is very much a genetic thing.. just like hair and other stuff.. its not in ones control. I used to always neglect leg workouts until quite some time ago when i was looking in the mirror and was pretty impressed by how much of progress i have made.. but when i saw my legs, let me tell u people, it was an aweful sight!. Everything on my upper body was like dayuM!!! but seeing my legs in the mirror was like "holieee!!.. what have i been doin for so longgg!!! " and from then on i thought to myself enough is enough.. im not going to workout my upper body if im not going to be hitting my legs.. this thought kept me out from gym for quite a while and then finally i started working my quads, hams, calves. Today im writing with so much pride that i have finally gained enough size/muscle on my legs ( quadriceps, hamstrings, and calved ) that i can actually feel while walking/running/jogging etc. Ofcourse people only notice your upper body and yea, i dont remember the last time a girl asked me to flex my quads but hey.. my confident level has never been the same. People often think that muscles are only the ones that one can see..which is why u see a lot of people just working on their biceps day and night. If you want an overall transformation, do not ever just concentrate on upper body and ignore lower body exercises. Quadricep is perhaps one the largest muscle on human body. How could one forget working on that?
Here are some of the benefits that i have experienced:
I walk more confidently
I dont feel shy wearing shorts
My upper body workout has increased a lot and i actually lift more than i used to.
Better sex drive
Better erection.. ( not sure if its appropriate to write this here, but this is one of the benefit for sure ).
Athletic performance got better.
I can swim faster now
My advice to everyone who go to gym regularly is to never ignore your lower body. Start off slowly and gradually increase the weights and intensity. Trust me , you’ll know what i’m talking about and what all great benefits you’ve been missing.
Is there anyone over here who go to gym regularly but chooses not to work their legs? why do u do that?..and if you do work on ur legs.. what are some of the health benefits you’ve experienced ?
(can't beleive you didn't knew that. You need to hit the books after working those calfs)
oo u guys!!.. i didnt mean it in that way.. i meant to ask howcome girls lose interest in working out after marriage all of a sudden?.. thats what i meant .. and yea i know babies happen PrinceMS, i knew this when i was 11 or 12 my friend. :)
I agree....up until this past yr i only worked out my upper body down to the glutes and nvr went beyond that.
I now started working out my hamstrings, quads, calves and have been doing so for the past yr or so. you really do notice a huge difference.
strong legs are one of the three things which assure that you will live a longer life.
So If you want to hang in as a grand pa/ma start training your legs.
I dont like lower body workouts and have to take it easy because I have weak lower back. I tend to pull some sort of a sciatic nerve when Im doing squats or lunges a lot and then have to take a break. It hurts like hell when that happens. Ill do it but I have to go light and just increase my repititions instead of weight. That works for me.
