Benazir in newsweek- I worry for Pakistan's future

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15737524/site/newsweek/

Comment: I do too, especially if you somehow get back in power.

here are a few gems from her Q&A. (in bold) and my comments.

** I traveled to Saudi Arabia last year to meet with Mr. Sharif. I told him that [people] inside and outside Pakistan are concerned that both of us spend so much time fighting each other **

errr we are not concenred about your fights, if it were up to me, you guys can fight in a wrestling ring each week and televise it, who gives a damn. People are concerned that the two of you are in this for yourselves and not for the people.

** We needed to send a signal that we’ve learned our lessons and that next time it will be different**

I hope that pakistani qaum has learnt its lesson and will send a signal of that by making sure that niether of these 2 clowns have a ‘next time’

In the immediate future, my party and the alliance with Mr. Sharif are both looking to put an end to the term limits

so they can do bandar baant until they die?

We feel that it should be left to the people of Pakistan. It’s not like America, where a president is elected and he completes [one or] two terms. Our terms are interrupted, so they don’t really qualify in the American sense of two terms

mind telling why those terms were interrupted? especially yours’.. lil miss. you have done two terms each time ousted because you could not deliver squat (except bakhtawar and the other one)

Pakistan needs term limits, otherwise the same damn parasites would be in power forever. and I support a more extreme term limit even at national assmebly level not just at the PM level.

Your administration was plagued by corruption charges.
The allegations have been made to destroy my reputation. Despite the rules being stacked against me, none of the courts were able to convict me. I have always proclaimed my innocence, my husband has proclaimed his, and neither of us have been convicted

yes BB, british and swiss courts have a vested interest in tarnishng your reputation..

But, the way politcs are run, I can guarante that unless something is done differently, her and nawaz will eventually both be in Pakistan, and they both will be back in politics and things would be miserable..like previously when she was in power.

Re: Benazir in newsweek- I worry for Pakistan's future

oh and please when u clck on the link, rate that story as low, because newsweek etc need to learn that they cant just drag ppl like her out for ratings.

I mean whether u like musharaf or not, want secular or ilsmaic governance, ... whatever..she simply is not the answer

Re: Benazir in newsweek- I worry for Pakistan's future

LMAO, she and the self-proclaimed Amir-ul-Momineen are now brothers and sisters

Re: Benazir in newsweek- I worry for Pakistan's future

i dont know if benazzir is speaking or the state department spokesman!

Re: Benazir in newsweek- I worry for Pakistan's future

she is so fake.
If i were given a choice of her being the Pm and some random pakistani being put in that place thru lotto, I would always go for lotto

Re: Benazir in newsweek- I worry for Pakistan's future

Yes you are right............:biggthumb

Re: Benazir in newsweek- I worry for Pakistan's future

*Benazir in newsweek- I worry for Pakistan's future *

This shud be in jokes section.

Re: Benazir in newsweek- I worry for Pakistan's future

May be a few sane people 'd have learned the lesson, otherwise pakistani qaum is full of idiots who can be easily fooled by their "new signal".

Re: Benazir in newsweek- I worry for Pakistan’s future

:omg:

Re: Benazir in newsweek- I worry for Pakistan's future

And why would rate that low - since u dont like Benazir!!

If these two are so insignificant why ur hero Musharaf day after day ha sto repaeat that these two wont come back? why all politics stilll after so many years is still revolving around these two? why Musharaf;s party PML-Q is seen as mere puppet in Pakistan.. truth is u wount admit that PPP is still the most poweful political force in Pakistan.. followed by PML-N.. people of Pakistan still trust these two leaders than ur comments..

Re: Benazir in newsweek- I worry for Pakistan's future

The only class that "trusts" them, trusts them for personal reasons and not for Pakistan and its well being. Personal reasons could range from being intimidated, overpowered, over influenced, financially, socially, economically and so on...or being over burdened and overawed by their kindness in the shape of appointments, written off loans, contracts and so much more...

It's strange how she and mian saab often say things like;
We needed to send a signal that we’ve learned our lessons and that next time it will be different
It proves that they accept and declare that they have been crooks and thieves and extremely corrupt in every way, and yet, they want to "serve" Pakistan (read their bank accounts), again...I hope there's never a next time for them...Plus God knows what they mean by "We"? Will they rule together? Heaven knows the moment they see any chances to power theyd be at each other's throats in a split second.

Re: Benazir in newsweek- I worry for Pakistan's future

You mean to say that people that peopel who think well of Pakistan are who follow likes of Musharaf and the party of turncoats and corrupt like Shujat etc. and the vast majority of people who follow these two leaders are selfish!!! Situation is other way around - with people of Pakistan put present ragime as the most corrupt and greedy that Pakistan ever had..

Secondly, both agree that they made mistakes by going to army instead of political solutions.. now the pact of democracy is a great document and it puts army back to its correct position..

How shameful that out of 59 years Pakistan has been run by bullet through dictators for 32 years.. and we still follow dictators by hollow arguments..

Re: Benazir in newsweek- I worry for Pakistan's future

^^
Do you know that because of corruption of these crook leaders using American banks (City bank and others) laundering their corruption money, American senate was presented with a report by a senate committee to discuss and change American law on ‘private banking and money laundering‘, so that American banks should be stopped getting used by them corrupts to launder their ill-gotten money?

That report (presented in November 1999) mentions ‘four cases of top world corrupt crooks’ that obtained corruption money as ‘head of state or their close relatives’ and used city bank to launder their ill gotten money. Amongst them were:

One: *Salinas case (case regarding Saul Salinas brothers of Carlos Salinas, president of Mexico)
**Two: *
Zardari case** **
[famous Mr 10 percent, later 30 percent, husband of Bai-Nazeer Bhutto, daughter of Z A Bhutto. In the case, along with Zardari, Bai-Nazeer Bhutto and her mother’s (Nusrat Bhutto, wife of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto) names were also included. Gosh, they made it into American senate report too on corruption charges, how great :)**]
**Three: **Omar Bongo, president of Gabon
**Four: **Abacha family, regarding three children of Nigerian leader General Sani Abacha

Now, an American magazine whose government used Bhutto corruption case in their senate report to change American law on use of American banks in laundering corrupt money, how can magazine from same country promote Bhutto when it comes to Pakistan?

Apart of that American senate report (that is nothing to do with Pakistan), many British newspapers (that includes Observer (dated: 24-10-99), Sunday times (dated: 12-4-98), guardian etc] published corruption stories of Zardari, Bai-Nazeer and Nawaz. Actually, Sunday Times of 23rd February 1977 claims Zardari's involvement in drug trafficking.

[British newspapers (or any media) when publishes stories that disrepute anyone, they always have back-up proofs, that they may or may not publish, as they can be sued heavily for compensation and thus they only publish when they can defend their story in court. They do not get involved in publishing false stories that disrepute anyone, as if they do, they would be sued and they would not be able to defend their story.

** Since corruption stories of Zardari, BB and NS were published in British newspapers (in abundance) and were also shown their corruption involvements on British TV, without any of those three (Zardari, BB and NS) suing those British media, confirms that the stories are all true. **

No politicians (unless the story is true) would keep quite when British media accuses them of corruption and disrepute them, especially when they can clear their name as well as get huge compensation. This is more true of Pakistani politicians, as whatever comes in British media, comes to the notice of many Pakistanis ]

** Now, American senate report and British media, on one hand shows that BB, Zardari and Nawaz are corrupts and criminals (Zardari being involved in drug trafficking), then at the same time, how can they try to promote such people in their own magazine for Pakistan?**

Probably these Magazines considers that Pakistanis are bunch of ignorant idiots that have little memory, and thus deserve corrupts and drug traffickers as their masters (or are corrupts that need such masters). Hence, those not ignorant idiots (or not corrupts), should remind (or at least try to remind) these magazines by writing them that all Pakistanis are not ignorant idiots or corrupts (hence showing their disgust to the magazine).

[Probably that is what Fraudia is trying to write, when he wrote that we should show our disgust to the magazine when they promote corrupts for Pakistani leadership :). Obviously, what he asked did not mean for those who wants corrupts as Pakistani leaders or are indifferent about that].

*[Thinking about them crooks (Asif Ali Zardari, Bai-Nazeer Bhutto, Nawaz Shareef) only one thing can be said: *

*hon gay badnaam tou kiya naam na hou ga? *
**Karayin gay chori tou kiya ilzaam na hou ga?

Mashhoor huay yea jo zamanay may her su**
Naam Pakistan ka kiya badmaam na hou ga?]

**

Note:** If one wants to, one can find all past issues and read all what is/was written in British newspaper. There are many libraries in UK, that have records (and copy) of all past newspapers.

Re: Benazir in newsweek- I worry for Pakistan’s future

Exactly. Those who fairly criticise past leaders hyopcritically ignore the same corruption and excesses committed by the present govt

Anybody who cares about the people of Pakistan are worried about it’s future. Only biased govt supporters will pretend everything is fine. Once US financial support of Pakistan goes, the simmering tensions will explode. Everybody is waiting for this.

Re: Benazir in newsweek- I worry for Pakistan’s future

go rate that high, I dont particularly care if you rate it high or print it out and wallpaper your room with it.

sure the parties are popular because our politics are an akhara of personal score settling and is more like WWE than like a real democracy. Masses voted for Benazir the first time around when she had no platform except for ‘shaheed’ kay khoon ka badla.

You will not admit on the other hand that these ppl looted the country with both hands, and maybe legs too, especially your chaheet BB is in troble with foriegn courts so the usual whining of political witch hunt can not be made either

Re: Benazir in newsweek- I worry for Pakistan’s future

Yet again you refer to the report of tranparency international which they themselves clarified is not saying what you think.

hey Pakistan was ranked #2 for corruption in the era of your jiyalays.

The same report had ppl noting that a very small percentae of ppl thougt that benazir’s first regime was corrupt, how is that possible unless someone went back in time and changed things.

Perceptions are not facts.

Re: Benazir in newsweek- I worry for Pakistan's future

sa1eem

you know this is all propoganda against benazir,
british newspapers, courts, swiss courts and Senate committee are all bought off and have nothing better to do then to spread false propoganda and lies about her :)

Re: Benazir in newsweek- I worry for Pakistan's future

Unfortunately Pakistan has been around that position in different years, I think even 2-3 years back Pakistan was 2nd :(

Re: Benazir in newsweek- I worry for Pakistan's future

nobody denies corruption of previous govts, but you refuse to admit the corruption of the current govt which everybody in Pakistan knows is just as bad as any previous...who is the one with his head in the sand? :)

Re: Benazir in newsweek- I worry for Pakistan’s future

Corruption exists in any govt and in any country, name one that is squeeky clean, so yes indeed ther eis government corruption in Pakistan, and there is tons of corruption at street level as well.

But the govt corruption is not even close to being as bad as previous governments. Independent external entities have confirmed that. read reports from economist, world bank and IMF etc etc.
