Brother, you are right, they were dictators and their lovers (be from public or holding state post) made their statues. But if they were dictators, in Pakistan we have unique type of dictators called ‘civilian dictators’ and these civilian dictators once in power, becomes more brutal and authoritarian that any military dictator could match.
Regardless, you are right again that … statue should be abhorred, as no one deserve a statue and in Pakistan we do not even have statue of Quaid-e-Azam in the way people want BB statue.
