Benazir Bhutto's statue at Boat Basin

Re: Benazir Bhutto's statue at Boat Basin

But don't you think it is relevant to talk about and know someone very well, their inside out, if they are not only leading (or led) a country, but they are getting portrayed as Heroine, a guide, an icon, an admirable personality, for some even deity, and whose statue is built for people to worship ... I do not mean literally worship, but revere as guide, great leader, and Heroine?

[It does not mean, BeNazir had no talent that one could ignore her, but then, in my opinion, she (and NS or Zardari) are not such personalities that one can start making them icon, a guide to follow, admirable personalities, leaders with high values, or consider them great leaders ... that we make their statues]

Re: Benazir Bhutto's statue at Boat Basin

In a thread about her statue and potential misuse of funds...

No its not. And I am probably one of the most anti-PPP and Benazir person I know. However this forum isn't run on mine or anyone else's political affiliation. I am equally tired of every thread ending in people calling each other noora tards or Jiyalas or burger bachas. Stick to the topic and refrain from posting about affairs. Otherwise all threads end up the same way and its getting very boring.

Re: Benazir Bhutto's statue at Boat Basin

^^^ Chalayen Aap khush rahain. Chahnay walon nay tou Saddam, Nasir, Sadaat, Asad, Shah of Iran, aur kayee logon ka Statue banayea hay/tha … so who cares.

And fact is that, whatever one says, PPP has done more for poor of Pakistan than most other rulers … hence if someone who benefitted from PPP policies (actually, almost all poor Pakistanis benefitted from PPP policies and works, one way or another)… than if some Pakistanis revere Z A Bhutto and BeNazir Bhutto … then that is understandable.

Re: Benazir Bhutto’s statue at Boat Basin

True that after few posts, each thread in PA starts to look like same.

Same ol’ jootam paidar, insults on either each other, or their “beloved” politicians.

Saleem bhai: I was going to post the examples of those country ‘leaders’ statues.

Don’t you think those people were dictators and their public had nothing to do with building their statues?

Mere idea of building a statue is wrong.

It cannot and should not be supported.

If this trend continues, we would see Nawaz, Imran, AH statues popping up over the country. :smack:

Re: Benazir Bhutto’s statue at Boat Basin

and that too from public money :smack:

Re: Benazir Bhutto’s statue at Boat Basin

No objection if they are killed, for which the chances are one in one billion.

Re: Benazir Bhutto's statue at Boat Basin

Why would you want them to be killed?

BTW: You again brought new direction to the thread when topic is about the statue of a politician.

Re: Benazir Bhutto's statue at Boat Basin

He may have been restricted from posting in Pakistan Affairs (but free to post anywhere else.

Re: Benazir Bhutto’s statue at Boat Basin

The period of AP’s presence in PA is directly proportional to period of democracy in Pakistan :hehe:

Re: Benazir Bhutto's statue at Boat Basin

Brother, you are right, they were dictators and their lovers (be from public or holding state post) made their statues. But if they were dictators, in Pakistan we have unique type of dictators called ‘civilian dictators’ and these civilian dictators once in power, becomes more brutal and authoritarian that any military dictator could match.

Regardless, you are right again that ... statue should be abhorred, as no one deserve a statue and in Pakistan we do not even have statue of Quaid-e-Azam in the way people want BB statue.
