Is anyone here born or have lived the majority of their life in the US, yet choose to marry from home? Especially Western girls marrying Eastern boys, I’m interested to know…how did it happen? What are the potential problems couples like these could face? Discuss any pros and cons ![]()

Ive started loving how you attempt to generalize when you have NO IDEA AT ALL :D
Re: Being US Born & Bred, Choosing a Spouse from the Motherland
US Born and bred??? Even Middle Eastern born and bred guys go to Pakistan to bring their wives since ALL the girls born and brought up abroad are evil, modern and cannot be good bahus and wives.
Re: Being US Born & Bred, Choosing a Spouse from the Motherland
I keep trying to open myself to the possibilities of a guy from Pakistan, but when they have a lot of difficulty with English or if they're not comfortable/familiar with the customs here, it gets to be hard.

oh deary me
considering I've lived in 6 countries. only 2 of them my native tongue I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about.
there are people who don't understand slang you know, sarcasm well a lot of people have difficulty understanding it and its not just limited to Pakistanis :P
As for traditions I'm pretty sure people don't do the exact same thing in US as they do in Pak there is always something different.
Being US Born & Bred, Choosing a Spouse from the Motherland
Hm. But nowadays even (SOME) Pakistani girls living in Pakistan are "modern". And I mean that they hve had past relationships/date/drink alcohol.qualities that these guys may not like.
It's tough finding a "good" spouse/wife.

And here you go once again. If and when you come to Pakistan, please do contact me. I would love to take you on a tour of real Pakistan. And if you are too cool for that, just give a visit to campus of LUMS/LSE in Lahore or sit at any cafe/coffee shop in DHA and observe. I am sure you wont find any significant differences
Re: Being US Born & Bred, Choosing a Spouse from the Motherland
I dont know man...there are still some significant differences. As American as the desis in motherland try to be...it isn't the same.
If you haven't grown up here, and been through the high school and college experiences at least...your outlook and understanding of being an American is a little different.
Re: Being US Born & Bred, Choosing a Spouse from the Motherland
^^ LUMS or DHA is not REAL Pakistan!!!!!!
Re: Being US Born & Bred, Choosing a Spouse from the Motherland
People are getting too picky. imo
Re: Being US Born & Bred, Choosing a Spouse from the Motherland
And high school/college in America is NOT the same as high school/college in Pakistan, LUMS included.
Re: Being US Born & Bred, Choosing a Spouse from the Motherland
Thats what I am saying.
Once they have to spend the lives with their SAHREEF imported wives from Pakistan, they get to know the real whats and whos of everyone.
We shouldn't label girls living in Pakistan as SHAREEF and abroad as EVIL. It all depends on the brought up. A girl bred in US can be an awesome wife with all the ingredients of sharafat and girls bred in Pakistan can be evil. GUYS need to grow up.

facepalms
yes every country has a western coffee shop or university lol
Gloria Jeans comes to my mind ;o
oh and star bucks ;o
how about KFC? McDonalds?
does that make pakistan more western lol?
Re: Being US Born & Bred, Choosing a Spouse from the Motherland
I find that a lot of pakistani guys from the west think the girls in Pakistan are all conservative and quiet...
which I find laughable....
Re: Being US Born & Bred, Choosing a Spouse from the Motherland
There is no difference between girl back home and here. Few things which make girls more confident here are freedom of lifestyle, availability of resource, opportunities(job/education) and financial independence in early stage. If these resources are easily available back home then they can perform better.

Quoted for truth?

Where is here?
because last I checked Americas job market was atrocious.
In pak you get a maid, driver, nanny, butler, tailor etc etc..
in US you have to be more responsible less living like a princess/prince
