If you could find out someone else’s salary (friend, colleague, family member), would you?
For example, you’re at their desk at work and the paystub is RIGHT there - you don’t even have to strain your eyes to see it - would you look? Same as, if you’re in their home and they leave their paystub on the counter where you’ve gone to make a phone call - would you look at it?
it is not morally accepted thing to look at pay stub/finding salary. Just make it rule in your life, if someone ask you how much you earn, simply response in very calm tone that "Allah ka shukhar hai, guzara hojata hai."
and if they insist you, then you can say, "It is not mandatory for you to know it."
are you stalking me, sherrish? i just did this last evening. in my defence, the paystub was left in a public area at the work place, and i just wanted to make sure the stupid office manager didn’t leave mine out too.
but i’d definitely like to know how much various people at work are getting paid. i don’t want to be the one who is being underpaid, and i could ask for a raise at the next performance review if i knew others doing similar stuff as me are getting paid more.
I want to have an idea because of the reasons that Queer mention, but only amongst my colleagues. I dont really want to know what my friends or neighbors are making.
Having said that, if a pay stub is right on front of me, I would not hesitate to look. If its sitting somewhere where i have to take some action to take a peek, I wont.

You are paid for your worth.
It will only hurt you if you know your colleague is making more than you and it will only stop you from working hard if you know that you are getting better than your colleagues.
I don't like it when someone asks me how much I earn, my response is what STA mentioned as that is what my daddy taught me to say to get out of telling people.
And no I wouldn't ask what my friends/family get paid however all my colleagues do share pay info between ourselves
I have to deal with this every other month. Some of my employees get more than others and once the news is leaked, … oh boy… its like handling a dozen crying GFs on period
Hell yeah. I would look if it is in front of my face.
Yes I would have to be ready to be hurt, jealous, feel sorry, depending on what I find.
We can talk a range if you know a person at a certain level and in confidence.
I certainly would not expect STA to disclose his huge salary on a public forum like this.
someone i didn like at work would boast she was being paid loadsssssssss, one day the manager asked me to give this to xxx when u see her, funnily enough it was her payslip. and she was being paid less then minimum wage. i smiled when i gave it to her. she didnt boast after that.
but if its a work place and if its right on my face, yeah I'll take a look. Its always good to know the salary of people who are doing same work as you are to make sure you are not being used.
