I hardly see any truth in that. The current cut-throat atmosphere in the corporate environment does not appreciate humbleness. As someone already mentioned, it is considered as a sign of lack of confidence and non-aggressive attitude.
Being humble is not going to take you any where. You might just be considered a good worker and thats about all. You will not be considered the management material.
