Being a learner driver

:frowning:

My steering is atrocious, i admit. so when a gang of white youth on bikes jeered at me through my open window i couldn’t even argue back. I do have a newfound respect for drivers now. You guys are so talented. I can’t even get the car to go in a straight line. But that is not my issue…are all driving instructors like mine?

On my first ever lesson she was on and on about how ‘new pupils’ had ‘done her wheels in’ by hitting the kerb. Needless to say i forgot everything she told me about anything and was concentratting so hard on not hitting that kerb that i did a thousand other ‘shouldn’t do’s’.

And today at the end of the lesson she was like 'i’m gonna be telling you quite bluntly what you doing wrong…i’ll try and say it in a nice way so as to not offend you but i am quite straight forward…jya know whata mean? '. Course i bloody well know what you mean. You want to be cancelled off and have me get myself a new instructor. (wishes)

I told my friends about Lyndsay pissing me off and not being very encouraging and they told me theirs were worse. One actually used to slap her on hand and knee when she made a mistake and stuff. Is this sort of instructor criticism and behaviour quite normal?

Worst thing is shes telling me about this ‘star pupil’ who’d mastered the art of driving in two lessons and was exceptional and how just yesterday she’d driven home so confidently…the womans stressing me out. I’m feeling so slow…i hate being a learner. :frowning:

Re: Being a learner driver

iv been a learner for years…lack of money and iv had to fire a few instructers. most of them were pervs and would touch inappropriately, and one used the “f” word a lot! Don’t be put off by yours though, your mates are right you could do with a lot worse that hitting the kerb. I cant even turn right or do roundabouts

Re: Being a learner driver

They have cars in IngLand

Re: Being a learner driver

Well at least your instructor is female. Mine brushed his hands across my thighs and then had the nerve to ask for mangoes from my mother's mango tree afterwards (literally, no sexual symbolism there).

Re: Being a learner driver

PCG, when will your stories of victimhood end? You're the most abused and sexually harrassed women on GS so far. Do you think may be, just may be you're doing something to attract the weirdos? May be you're a magnet of some sort. Obnoxious men come flying around you with buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. yeh?

Re: Being a learner driver

Disco...koi Kutti na thalay day daeen.

Re: Being a learner driver

Dont worry, i guess its all about confidence. People make such a big deal about driving that a lot of new people get intimated. You will get there :)

Re: Being a learner driver

my mom says i drive like spoilt arab brats. what can i do.... i have to win if they take panga with me on the road.

TNW, now that I know you're a woman, I think you're cute in a now-that-I-know-you're-a-woman sort of way.

Re: Being a learner driver

Re: Being a learner driver

Well, you sure do act like one.

Re: Being a learner driver

^ oh actually, im still trying to figure out myself. just recently i told my mom that i was confused about this and that maybe i should undergo an operation to confirm and she said when she was expecting me, she was praying for one gender and maybe God has given her two-in-one.

Re: Being a learner driver

Gamma, guess you are right. Jus tthat shes quite undermining....

Khair, i seem to have fared well against all you harrassed ladies.

Re: Being a learner driver

Stories like this convince me that I am gonna make sure all my kids learn driving when they are 15. Every one of their peers will be driving at that age and it won't seem like a big huge deal. It sure seems like a huge mountain, if you delay the learning process till after your marriage.

Disco.. when you are feeling stressed out, just think of this. Its no big deal. Everyone drives. Koi taup cheez nahi hai driving. Stop worrying about it so much.
