Re: Bed Sheets
bed sheets and pillow covers, twice a week. never washed pillows though, coz i use pillows with original feathers, dont enjoy cotton or foam.
Re: Bed Sheets
Oh...you should really wash your pillows in warm/hot water. I watched a news report on how fungus grows in your pillow due to sweat and dead skin cells. Breathing in the fungus can cause allergies and asthma...

Even when you have covers on them? ![]()
In that case you should wash your mattress as well!
Re: Bed Sheets
I remember as a child in Pakistan once a year the Roee wala would come over with his device that looked like a musical instrument and all the pillows and lehaafz would be taken apart and their cotton would be fluffed with that thing. Then they would be sun treated for two days and back went the cotton into the pillows and lehaafz.
I have two down pillows and have used them for a year now and was wondering if they should be dry cleaned or sterilized some how??
Re: Bed Sheets
this is an odd thread...but never the less.. :D
pink'd out - every two days?! wow..that's a lot of laundry for you..
Re: Bed Sheets
The report said that to protect your pillows, you should have 2 pillow cases on them and wash them frequently. As for the mattress, if you have a mattress protector on and wash your sheets frequently I think you should be okay.
Re: Bed Sheets
I wash sheets every 2 weeks, pillows once a year. I also heard that you're supposed to vaccuum your mattress once in a while also to get rid of dust mites. Maybe once a month or once every 2 months, don't remember. You can spray on some Febreeze first, leave for a few minutes then vaccum with a small attachment.
Re: Bed Sheets
I wash my all my linens once a week. Pillows, I replace them every 6 months so don't need to wash them. Also, when we have staying guests, i do change all the linens and wash everything that they used from towels, to pillows, to bed sheets to comforters.
Also, this may sound funny and only a desi would do this. Twice a year i call the kirby vaccum ppl over to do demonstration and make them vaccum my mattresses. Wow, you should see the amount of dust that the vaccum pulls from the mattress. I am thinking about buying that vaccum but they are too expensive so i save money by calling them over to do the free demo:)
Re: Bed Sheets
^ Vacuum doesn't get rid of dust mites~
For that, you have to steam vac the carpets, mattresses etc. ;)
Re: Bed Sheets
sheets/pillow cases once a week, blankets, pillows once a month.
Re: Bed Sheets
I guess pillows can only be washed when filled with synthetic cotton, right?
Re: Bed Sheets
Mahru Down pillows are so pricey i dont know if i would be able to replace them every 6 months. Isnt there some service where they can sterilize the pillows or something?
Re: Bed Sheets
hinna fungus in pillow?
Re: Bed Sheets
depends.
Re: Bed Sheets
Have a habit of changing bedsheets after almost 3-4 days. In summer might be two days.
