brilliant move from a career perspective, he does not have too many top level european playign years ahead of him, and while he still has currency, he can get a financially attractive dealin US, and make boatloads doing endorsements and commercials.

From a footballing career prespective it’s a bad move, no chance of playing for England now.
For a post-football career move, it is likely to be very good, esp as they say this deal alone is worth up to $250 million dollars! more than he would get at a European club.

I personally feel he has a number of good years in him, just like my old time fav, Bergkamp, who shut his critics up time and time again by showing what he can do on the field.

I think he compared his probability to play for england and the role and money he would get in a euro club for that to, the lower probability of playing for england and the role and money he would get for playing in US, and decided to go with the safer route.
If the amount of money mentioned is true, who can blame him? He has won everything possible at club level so he must have thought yeah i cannot playfor England so why not make some more money...
This is insane. I would have rather seen this kinda money spent on a new NFL stadium or something. Who watches MLS besides soccer moms and mexicans and other south american immigrants here in LA.
