according to the terms of his contract, his base salary w/o any endorsements is as follows, notice that it goes up every year:
2006: $17,718,750
2007: $19,490,625
2008: $21,262,500
2009: $23,034,375
His contract runs thru 2009.

team is gonna recoup that money easily, merchandise is going to be one big thing. and its not going to be just US, it will be international.
if this thing works out, then beckham can make history, but i have doubts, even pele did not succeed in popularizing football in US...i mean a sustainable popularity

I think Beckham's much touted $250 m includes endorsements too, so its not all salary.
Secondly, my knowledge of soccer is fairly limited, but I always thought of Beckham more as a good free kick taker, but as an over all player, he seems fairly average. From his stand-point, its a fantastic move.
From MLS stand point, I doubt if having Beckham play will bring revenues up by all that much. Yeah, may be for the first game he plays for LA, ppl may tune in.
I think one way LA Galaxy may be able to fill up soccer stadiums, if they have a clause in Beckham contract that for each game he plays, his wife has to be present in the stands. Betcha there are a bunch of ppl willing to pay good money to watch her rather than her hubby.

Faisal u can read teh details of his compensation on skysports its a pretty awesome deal.
Beckham was a great allroudn player with a specialty in set pieces. Now he is on a downward spiral and while he had a few good years in him, he has decided this move on more stuff than just soccer.
as far as the impact goes, that remains to be seen.
posh may be a big seller in general but globally becks still has more currency than her.
