My sister collects her jihaz too and I see nothing wrong with that... She is saving her future by this habit :)

I actually realised how useful it is to do this,when i saw my cousin sister's jahez.It was all these beautiful things my Khala has been collecting for her since a long time.Like see a nice suit at a reasonable price,buy it,keep it for later.So I have been travelling around the world these past 2 yrs n if i happen to see something unique and one of a kind that i will find useful for later on,my mum buys it n keeps it for later.Like this really nice pair of shoes i found in Phillipines and these Branded clutches n handbags i found somewhere else..I personally think its wise doing the collection,cuz it doesnt put much of a financial burden on u later on with all the other things,going on at the same time.

If you collect clothes, aren't u afraid that it may go out of style or you won't like it a few years later? I know things I loved a few years back, I'm not into anymore and vice versa.

People usually save gold (and that in brick form since jewellery designs change with time). Things like dresses, furniture, electronics, bags, shoes etc all need to be bought at the time of marriage according to the latest trends and models. So its good to save only in gold form and then we can use some of the gold to buy stuff and the rest to make the jewellery. You just need to have sufficient cash in hand and the jehaiz is ready in no time.

True. sab paise ka khel hai! anyways, yah gold is best to save up. i dnt think anyone in nowadays time, unless they r billionarie, can afford to buy as much gold as use to be given to the daughters/bahus few years ago.

nope.....it still takes few months to 'build up' the jahaiz from scratch...

depends. bt mostly gold, clothes, furniture, beddings, crockery, makeup, shoes, tv, fridge and the list goes on and on....depending on their budget, people add or take off few things but mostly these major thing everyone tries to adjust no matter what. sad! i dnt think this much shud be necessary.
