Just wondering where the concept of a beauty spot originates from?
Among desis, I understand a kaala til is usually drawn on one’s face to prevent him/her from buri nazar … don’t know how thats supposed to work but thats what it symbolises anyway…
But what about the natural beauty spot? Why is it known as a beauty spot? What does it have anything to do with beauty?

They’re essentially moles…I have no idea why they’re associated with beauty though. The first person who came to mind when I saw this thread was Marilyn Monroe as she had one on her left cheek…maybe it was her that led to it’s association with beauty. I have one in a similar place to Marilyn’s except it’s on the right cheek…sometimes I cover it up sometimes I darken it.
My mum does tell me to darken it to prevent nazar etc. I don’t know why though

… has anyone had beauty spots “lasered”??..especially the mole kind as theres some beauty spots which are almost freckle like in apperance…****.. idea of lasering them to make them “lighter” and therefore not so apparent on your face…

I have 3 on my face...exactly diagonal to each other....one on the right, on the upper lip , then the second just near the bridge of my nose the 3rd just below the corner of my left eye brow!!
I wntd to take them out...but mom says not to coz she says it looks good!

I have one beside my nose-right side.. one below my right eye near the upper ridge of my nose.. one on the left cheek.. one above on my temple.. one above my upper lip on the right…Im thinking to " laser" the one beside my nose:bummer:.. . granted they look good…Ill have people connecting the dots …drawing maps of interesting countries on my face:teary1:..

I am fine…I hope you are going gr8 too… I know what you mean…if some one puts a ruler on my face they will be able to draw a diagonal line across my face!!
Another thing that makes me wanna remove them is coz they could be cancerous!! I really need to get them tested when I get enough money!!!

**ohh hun … Yes .. u shud … I did.. and alhamdolilah the mole near my nose is fine but doctors suggested that if it continues to grow.. removing the mole wud be a very good idea… im monitoring the growth and and more inclined now to have it removed.. but the scar ( albeit a small one) worries me…
… nevertheless.. its all good sweets!!!.. …
PS:.. Ur diagnonal line is nothing compared to my map of timbuktooooooo:snooty:..

Im covered in moles…I count them frequently just for fun. I have one right next to my right eye…another minute one next to it (I kinda like those two)…one along my jaw line (hate that one and occasionally mistake it for a pimple)…about 20 or so on my arms and more on my back/legs.
There are two that I keep an eye on because they’re bigger…one is on my leg and one on my back. If they get larger…will zap them ASAP.
I dont know exactly where the beauty mark originated from BUT on some people it does look really pretty. My mom has one on the lower part of her left cheek and one right above her lip. I think they give her a classic “noor jehan” type look…

I always thought beauty spot are the moles that are on your cheek(s).
otherwise I have a mole (very small) on my forehead just above my left eye brow.
then there is another under my right eye .
I have a small mole just below the beauty spot.

Ok now girls can someone esplain why these are known as beauty spots? Wikipedia just explains what it is but doesnt explain the theory behind it… would be interesting to know…
