You know average does not mean ugly/unattractive…and average looks can be improved upon (with fashion, makeup, losing weight etc) and have the potential to even be considered “cute or fairly attractive”…and with the intelligence…that’s a pretty nice combo and it can take you far.
Unfortunately though, research suggests that attractive people do have it easy than those that are unattracive…they get ahead…they’re treated better in various situations from school to the workplace, etc.

“Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder!”****…so, for a guy a girl with ‘average looks’ and above average brains may be more beautiful than the most beautiful woman on earth…vo urdu meN kahaavat hai na k: “jab dil lagaa chuRail se to parii kia cheez hai!”

Well ugly is such an ugly word and nothing is ugly its always a matter of perception at the end of the day..........average has several potentials !

I think I'm gonna go with the "average" even though research results favor the attractive ones. Then again...I don't recall the research taking factors such as average looks as opposed to ugly looks into consideration.
I think that the average looks can be improved on as I mentioned earlier and with the intelligence.....it has more staying power, if that makes sense. I just don't imagine that the good looks and incompetence combo would last long. The good looks might get you hired quickly....but if you can't handle the responsibilities.....how long will people put up with you? Even in a relationship....there eventually may come a point where you get bored because there's little to offer in terms of intellectual stimulation.
If beauty and brains is considered to be the perfect combo/package........then average looks (that are improved on) along with intelligence ....MIGHT...have the potential to come close to that ideal combo.

It depends on the society . In cultures where men and women are segregated even the ugliest girl will get the best deal from opposite sex.

Its the beauty that takes the limelight.. Brain is ignored mostly.
Beauty-Brain combo is the most successful ones though...

Average person with brains go way further! beauty is noticed- yes, but that's about all!

Behind every successful woman is a pretty face and a frustrated boss and every pretty face is capable of making any boss frustrated.
if "deal" is the purpose, looks will be looked at first.

Why should it be either/or question?
Both scenarios can get 'better deal' , whatever it is.
Let me explain...
With beauty but no brain, the other party (usually the man) has no brain :D but may make up for (her being not so bright) by giving her the best deal.
With her being average looking but being smart, she knows how to get the best deal anyway. ;)
Hence, both scenarios are not mutually exclusive.
