If this is how we have become as men and women then how can we even think of being together within a marriage ?

The institution of marriage is a religious one. Its a concept of loyalty and trust. I don't think either one ever goes defunct. Marriage in its nature is changing with a larger emphasis on the self and not on the collective. This is not unique to Pakistani men or women. Its something you see in all societies.
People are placing more emphasis on what they want. What they desire and their ability to compromise is decreasing. It is also an issue of ego. People consider themselves more important and value materialistic things more so than personal attributes.
Look at that thread PCG started Education and a job are the first two things. They are linked with monetary values. A guy with a good education and a good job = good marriage potential.
Less value is placed on the nature of the family, its background and its ethical values. That is the nature of the marriage these days.

Marriage was considered a union , when you got married it was with the idea that its not now me or him , its US !
But people nowadays seem to be more selfish and self-centred.......and rather than going into a marriage with the concept of making it work , its become more about vested interests !

Bottom Line Of Everything, Follow Islam and Nothing's Gona Go wrong, its when People Begin to interpet Islam in their OWN version. or begin to Follow other Civilizations and cultures.
Islam is the SOLUTION to ALL Problems. And I say Men and Women DESERVE Whts happening with them, cos they dunt follow Islam in its True meaning, bas yeh hi fir hoti hai k log kia kahein ge >> Men & Women are EQUALLY Worse at Complaining and NOT making things work. But the moment > Those People Who Accept that they are MUSLIMS, Start to Follow Islam, Then We ll see how Many Threads Get opened up in here be it in Life1 or any other Issue.

People have changed, Societies have changed, Human value have changed ... and so does bond of marriage. Either we like it or not people have moved on to totally another level of commitment. It does not mean that we can totally abolish the institution of marriage, but its time to base it more on equality than standards of our forefathers.
Its a time of give and take. Self dependence and equal rights. No one is willing to take crap from anyone. There is nothing called LoVe unless it takes physical form of your offspring. Marriage is not a natural phenomena unless nature made it the way it is now. It takes an effort and urge to make it work. It will never come naturally. People motivated enough have spouses and others exhausting their energies bashing.
