Basic etiquettes of dining at someone's place

Whatttttttttttttttt? No dish detergent? Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Just thinking about this makes me wanna throw up.

Re: Basic etiquettes of dining at someone's place

noo she did used that.... but the smell of raw eggs is too strong. normally my mom put used tea bags in the bowl she mix raw eggs... and it removes all the smell. ( a very good totka!)..... and wash them by hand and not in dishwasher.....so here.... she placed everything which had egg on... without even rinsing. it was gross!!!....... i dont know excatly wat she did but after when they left and we opened the dishwasher to take out the "clean" dishes... they all smelled like eggs!!! yuck

:naraz:

Curry patta/curry leave are available at all desi stores. You might not be able to find it everywhere in the world though. I have seen some desi stores sell powered curry leaves , but I have never tried the powder.
So you can skip curry leaves if you cannot find them. It just adds a certain aroma , it does not add anything to the taste of chicken 65.

Re: Basic etiquettes of dining at someone's place

raw eggs smell does not go away in dishwashers?
huh..since when? what dishwashers and cleaners are u ppl using.
i toss bowls used to whisk eggs in right in the dishwasher, and never had any issue with smell.
we do run the dishwasher daily so dunno if that has something to do with it.

Re: Basic etiquettes of dining at someone’s place

X2, if you’ve left the eggy dish in the dishwasher too long before running it, the smell does linger on. A friend’s cups and glasses always smell of anda :bummer:

However, if you was right away, the smell doesn’t stay on.

Re: Basic etiquettes of dining at someone's place

we have never tried putting eggy dishes in dishwasher. but if u are saying that it works for u.... tu maybe she did forgot to put the deterget. i have no clue.... but our stuff was eggy afterwards. .... and it annoyed us!!!

so bottom line wat i am trying to say.... dont bug ur host!!!.... dont wash their dishes... and if they are cuting salad (uff i have so many salad stories :S)... or even dhania for garnish... dont take/pull/steal knief from their hand and start doing it urself...... you are not helping them!!!

Re: Basic etiquettes of dining at someone's place

eat a small snack before you arrive. most mishaps occurs in parties due to famished guest reaching for things.

Parties are for meeting people, food is incidental

Re: Basic etiquettes of dining at someone’s place

The dishwasher has a hen’s nest in it or was painted with paint made of eggs.

We never ever smell anything on our dishes , we leave used dishes in our dishwasher for many days to make sure it has full load before we start it. And desi khana , if has eggs in it or not always has strong smell.

Miss BB apnay dish washer ko kissey achchay say mechanic ko dekhain , Allah Shifa day ga.

Miss BB first you said that other lady just rinsed the dishes and put them in basket , then you said she used soap , and then you said dishes were washed in dish washer and smelled like egg still.
That kind hearted lady wanted to help you and you are blaming her for the fault of your dishwasher. :woho:

Re: Basic etiquettes of dining at someone's place

LOL , Or keep a small snack in your pocket. I can so relate to it , specially at very big parties and community events.

i was telling of two waqiyats!!

anyways… u can come up with any asumption u feel like… doesnt bother me… coz i know what happened… and suffered the after effects!:snooty:

I dont know amigo, I have never had issues with a properly loaded dishwasher not cleaning dishes properly, no smell, no residue, no issue..

yes when someone loads the dishwasher improperly…yeah

I have seen people who want to overstuff the dishwasher, and then run it on speed cycle, well yeah then u are not going to get things cleaned properly. or if the water is too hard then it will not work with detergent too well, or the stuff is really baked on and left to become crisp.

so peeps, load the dishwasher properly and if the dishes are heavily soiled run the dishwasher on a diff setting.

anda smell..sheesh

ur roothing?

:nahi:

i dont know why people use dishwashers...plates/glasses /spoons etc. r not a big deal to wash..the main and big problem is the daigchis and daigchas..which have to be washed by hand at the end of the day...!!!!!

dont know why?...

dishwashers are more sanitary.
plus deghchis and degchas can be easily cleaned in dishwashers as well.
we wash ours all the time. No issues

Re: Basic etiquettes of dining at someone's place

yea and dishwasher actually waste less water...dunno why some ppl insist on handwashing (unless only 2 ppl live there in which case i MIGHT understand)

Re: Basic etiquettes of dining at someone’s place

washing dishes by hand–
u end up doing multiple loads a day especially when your sink is very tiny.
back ends up hurting from standing over it several times a day.
the dish sponge can stink up your hands
the detergent ruins your skin

but worst of all–
some people seem to think theres a built in garbage disposal in teh sink  so they throw all the egg shells, and food scraps in there and expect the dishwashing-fairy to pick out all the icky yucky stuff with her bare hands.

Re: Basic etiquettes of dining at someone's place

^^^ewwww!!! nasty ppl!!! ... and then there are ppl who place their compost bins over the counter!! :S..... its stay there ALL the time!! and its a nasty view!!!

Re: Basic etiquettes of dining at someone's place

the dishwashing sponge and the dish towel are among the filthiest things in an average home btw.
