Re: Basic etiquettes of dining at someone's place

I used to do a pile of dirty dishes everyday back then when I was living with someone. It was the most difficult thing to wash those filthy dishes. Khair , with time I learned that dish washing can be made easier if I just rinse with water all the dishes first and then wash them out with dish sponge. It really worked , the dish washing sponge never got yucky and I felt less disgusted too ! You can throw away the left over food and other stuff in small bag , tie it and throw in trash.

Dirt works good. I have seen dhabay walas in Pakistan use dirt to turn their pots and pans shiny again. :D

Re: Basic etiquettes of dining at someone's place

another pet peeve is do not arrive too early for a dinner party. Let's say we told people dinner is at 7....some folks actually show up 6 while your still setting up or getting ready...it is just awkward....

:) we know some people who do that.At the other end,do not turn up two hours late.Yes,it's fashionable...yes,it shows you're important, but not when everyone one is 'bhook se marring'...and the food has been heated three times.

See I would not do that. I would go ahead & serve dinner & the people that are too late can just reheat their food in the microwave....jeez.

At most if a party is at 7:00 show up by 7 or 7:30...dont come 6 or 9:30 :)

Quite agree...but it always happens.

Wish I had the nerve to that....but I just can't....just look at my watch and wait.

Dirty dishwashing sponges are great for immune system. :k:

A couple of important things that people tend to overlook....

If you are finished with your plate and/or your drink, please dispose of it so that roaming little ones do not find themselves tempted. Goes especially if there are alcoholic beverages present.

If you have any medications with you, keep them in a safe place! If you are hosting a party and expect little ones, put them up out of reach somewhere. Many medications look like candies.

yeah, for the germs’ immune systems

How much thakaluff are you supposed to do?

lol i love my dishwasher and use it almost everyday but I still don't think that handwashing dishes using a dishwashing sponge kills anyone...well at least if you replace them frequently!

Re: Basic etiquettes of dining at someone’s place

true, replace em weekly, and sanitize them every other day per some sources, many things dont kill ppl but can get them sick. handwashing things is inevitable but the convenience of dishwasher, plus that they really do clean and sanitize better means that for quick washes for a couple of items handwashing is fine but not for larger loads, its a misconception that dishwashers clean less or use more water.
