Baseball 2005

Re: Baseball 2005

i thought i should put your previous prediction up here so people can see that you really do know what you are talking about

Now the only spanking cardinals will do, will be their own heads after being unable to hit the best picthers in the league. Let me name them for you so we can compare them with “young marlins picthers” …Pettite 2nd in ERA in the majors, Clemens 1.87 ERA (that is sick), Oswalt—only back to back 20 game winner in the majors, also do check out his winning percentage .680.
Astros in 6 over the small little red birds
Angels over the White Sox

Astros over the Angels in 7 in the WS.

Re: Baseball 2005

Talk about resilience. Angels played their 3rd game in 3rd city in 3 days and 3 different timezones and still came up with a win. Whitesox had 4 days to prepare.

Re: Baseball 2005

Stolen! I do feel bad for Mike and the Angels.

Re: Baseball 2005

David Letterman's Top Ten List on Tuesday night was "New York Yankee Excuses." They included:

• No. 6: Didn't know if they were playing the California Angels, Anaheim Angels or Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

• No. 4: How are you supposed to field a competitive team on $200 million?

• No. 3: Due to a typo in latest memo, Steinbrenner demanded players give 10%.

• No. 1: Who can concentrate on baseball when hockey is back?

Another hit: And from Jay Leno's monologue Tuesday night: "Huge wildfire broke out last night in Orange County — 25 people were choking. No, I'm sorry. That was the New York Yankees."

Re: Baseball 2005

^ just goes to show...Letterman is so much more funny than Leno.

Re: Baseball 2005

White Sox starters goes back-to-back-to-back CGs. This has happened first time in American League when 3 starting pitchers have completed games. It’s ova for Angels - their offense is struggling - though umpires have made blunders too but truth of the matter is - Sox have an unbelievable pitchers - and their ability to manufacture runs can’t be stopped.

Cardinals bullpen is terrible - I mean really you have their relievers ERA higher than a vg. starter in the league - this series is in the bag too unless if there’s any climax left in both championship series.

Re: Baseball 2005

White Sox clinch ALC. Great stuff from them. Last time they won the penant was, like, two generations ago.

On the NL, Astros are kicking St Louis' butt. They are leading the series 3-1.

With all the pre-season, usual suspects out of the way... predictions for the WS?

Re: Baseball 2005

now angels have rest of the year to rest.

Re: Baseball 2005

Pir ji, it was one of the worst officiated series ever. So manyblown calls, it is unbelievable. Mike Socia is a class act for not ripping MLB and the umpires for blowing crucial call after crucial call.

Anyway, this is Astros year...move over Black err White Sox...WS here we come.

Re: Baseball 2005

Good point Kaleem bhai but you missed to point out how many blown calls Cardinals got yesterday. Jim Edmonds was called strike out on a high fast ball but when a Cardinal pitcher throws the same pitch, it’s called ball.

Anyway, tonight is a good game. It’s been a series(NLCS, ALCS) of pitchers and I am loving every bit of it. :dhimpak:

Re: Baseball 2005

Gurantee Astros make the WS, this is going to be hellva of a matchup that no one would have predicted at the beginning of the season.

Sox and Astros both have a great bullpen - a rested bullpen of ChiSox I might add. Astros have HOFs (Clemens, Pettite, Oswalt) calibre starters whereas Sox got bunch of guys who were nobody until this season with 15+ wins to back it up. Sox relies on manufacturing runs early where Astros have power in the lineup. Astros have a record of 80-1 after leading at the end of 8th inning - that says alot about Brad Lidge - the Astros’ closer.

I’m estatic. :dhimpak: This WS is going to be a match up of a franchise not having won the WS since 1917 - on the other hand for Astros - their first appearance in WS.

Re: Baseball 2005

Talha, maybe that is true, but how about the non-call in the ninth when edmonds sneaks upto the third after Pujols was tagged out at home plate. Time was called, meaning runners cannot advance but the umpire went to sleep and let edmonds sneak up. That put added pressure on the Astros to turn a double play…and turn the douple play they did…it was one of the best double play in the history of Astros. Pettite will lead his hometown team to the promised land tonight. Go Astros.

Re: Baseball 2005

Kaleem bhai, it wasn't Edmonds. He was thrown out arguing over the call in the 8th. It was Larry Walker who moved from 1st to 3rd. And no the time wasn't call since Ansberg moved from 3rd base to make the play at home. He wasn't at 3rd base. In fact, no body covered 3rd base. The play never ended.

..and yeah the DP was one of the best I've seen. Never expected that from Astros' infielders.

Re: Baseball 2005

Bad officiating or not, Chicago's pitching was more than what the Angels bargained for.

Re: Baseball 2005

Who’s denying Sox didn’t have better pitching? We’re talking about officiating here. I bet if it was against Sox, all that stupid curse talk would have been going on in Chicago’s Radio stations.

Re: Baseball 2005

HOLY SHEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTT!

BIG PHAT ALBERT'S mammoth HR saved Cards season - OMG... That was freaking incredible....

Lidge didn't even want to throw Pujols a strike. If you watch the replay, when Ausmus was giving the signal, he held his hand out straight to the right, telling him to throw it outside. They were just going to throw him junk off the plate. Lidge just hung a slider right over the plate..and it's back back back.......GONE!

Re: Baseball 2005

Talha, can you please remove the damn link, ESPN is going to torture us Houston fans already, I dont need a constant reminder untill Wednesday......What the hell was Phil Graner thinking, you walk the Gorilla and take your chances with Sanders...first dumb move of the post season by Garner and it may wind up costing us a trip to WS.

Re: Baseball 2005

I’m just saying that regardless of bad officiating, Angels didn’t have much of a chance in the first place.

Re: Baseball 2005

I'm Kool bhaisahib, you really think that call in Game 2 did not change the series? Had the umpire done his job, angels and sox should be playing game 7 tomorrow night.

Re: Baseball 2005

errrr why is that, did angels win 3 games or somfin :) or is that texas math

aray bhai kaleem we know you are a texan and are happy that the ass-tros are doing well, even though no one in Texas really cares for them since rangers seem to get all the love there, kinda like white sox are ignored in chi-town while cubs are not.

anyhoo..lets see if they can get past cards first. then they can worry about the sox.
