Basant Blasphemy

Re: Basant Blasphemy

no one is asking you to adopt arab culture or giveup your own culture that DOES NOT contradict islamic injunctions
there is no harm in flying kites in basant, but to use it as an excuse for a pagan carnival like festival that is not right

Re: Basant Blasphemy

:omg: :biggthumb

Re: Basant Blasphemy

Who are you to tell anyone what islam is and how one should follow their religion? Islam is not a social gathering, it is a belief that people have, which is very personal. I hate people who preach! STFU and move your ass to saudi arabia. We need to line up every mullah in pakistan and blow their brains out. They are destroying our culture and taking away our freedom. Its always people like you who walk around preaching about whats islamic and whats not, but chances are that your an uneucated fool who has no indepth study of islam and gained all your info from some goat at the madrassah. There is not room in pakistan for extremist.

the times of decadence 30sec of "melody arabia" can prove that

Are you talking about that channel?
I think it is owned by christian lebanese? (there are "christian" arabs!!!).

Re: Basant Blasphemy

you are also pointing that arab culture is "superior" than other cultures!

You are trying to ignite a debate that goes far beyond the immorals of basant!

Re: Basant Blasphemy

I didnt know that, but even the arab families I have met here are no more religious than any pakistani or indian muslims.

Re: Basant Blasphemy

My humble opinion is if austerity a characteristic of bedouins is taken that is indeed superior to many of our cultural characteristics simply because it is what islam preaches.
Remember the last sermon about arabs and non-arabs

Re: Basant Blasphemy

I believe it is as it shows singers that I have never heard about in mainstream arab media (through arab friends?).

I could be wrong but there are a couple of pointers. For example, it only comes on free preview when there is another christian arab channel on free preview. The channel looks pretty western to me (maybe even to arab standards ie women wearing minis and whatnot) and I think I once saw a lebanese address on it (lebanon is pretty liberal and half of its population is christian btw).

Note:
Nevermind, I checked and it also broadcasts from Egypt.
I think it could also be that they try to show a liberal face on the outside while they repress their women inside the country.

Re: Basant Blasphemy

^ who knows what these people are upto
but they are doing their share in corrupting youth

Re: Basant Blasphemy

Bissmillah hir Rehman nir Raheem
(In the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Merciful)

Narrated Aisha Razi Allah Tala Anha (May Allah be pleased with her) :

The Rasool Allah (May the peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) said,
“If somebody innovates something which is not in harmony with the principles of our religion, that thing is rejected.”

(Sahih Al-Bukhari: 003:049:861)

Re: Basant Blasphemy

It is like our private channels and also PTV as well!

But I am at liberty in case of Pakistan as how it has corrupted pakitani youth (not just punjab but in karachi and even as far as nwfp etc).

I don’t know about Egypt but have heard it is more liberal than gulfies?
I even heard from an arabi that the women wear bikini under their so-called niqab but that could just be hearsay… :cb:

But by no mean should Arabs be considered some standard to base islam on!
Remember people, Islam cares about your spiritual status NOT your cultural or worldly status!

For example, we have practices like genital mutilation and showing bride’s blood as proof of virginity (true virgins are supposed to bleed the 1st time..) in the arab and even broader islamic world that are comical but are considered part of “islamic culture” :mudhosh:

Re: Basant Blasphemy

^have to agree with most of what u r saying

Re: Basant Blasphemy

I am pointing out that Arab Culture is Superior to Pakistani Culture which is heavly influenced by Hindu Culture - that directly conflicts with the teachings of Islam.

Egypt - Has beaches where Women on the Beach go with their bikinies (Influenced by Israel)
Lebanon - Similar to Pakistan - It has lost Islamic Values.

Now, I am not blaming everyone in these countries - rather the Goverments and Majority of the Population.

:k:

Re: Basant Blasphemy

I have no words to describe your ignorance.

Melody Arabia as Das pointed out among other things is arab culture SO THEN HOW IS IT SUPREME TO PAKISTANI CULTURE?

You are contradicting yourself over this culture issue man!

What is your proof?
Egypt and other arab countries (as so I heard from arab friends) were more sociolisitc or open in imitation of Soviets back in the day.
I believe you are talking about the middle and upper middle class?

I don't see Israel as contributing to the immoral factor (Arabs could've learned other things from israel as well not just immorality).

Don't make hasty generalizations!

Do you know people from Lebanon or have you visited the country?

Countries don't become evil and kaafir if they don't follow taliban or middle eastern extremist ideologies.

Your generalizations are going towards that!
Also about taliban, just remember that as much as they have banned heroin and boy molesting, they did many other unislamic deeds as well!

Re: Basant Blasphemy

But today you can’t take everything at face value!

I don’t want to go offtopic and the topic getting closed but the gist of the argument is that people shouldn’t bring in these cultural and superiority arguments. Islam is not arab culture as I said. This is further taken to extreme when extremists base it on so and so culture to kill other muslims because they go to a mazar or they do quran khwani on a floor covered with white sheet.

You wouldn’t believe how many comical versions of arguments I have heard that have become fearce conflicts!
To me or anyone else, going to a mazar offering dua or the quran khwani are legitimate but people have been declared kaafir based on these things!

Re: Basant Blasphemy

Perhaps they need one in Canada too! damn cannucks!

Re: Basant Blasphemy

Soomro,
Egypt has numerous beaches - that attract foriegners. Its too bad that you have not seen it - google it and you will find numerous.

:smack:,
Perhaps you like to read one part of the post and ignore the other - reminds me of Hypocrats - who believe in one part of the Quran and disregard the other. Yes, Taliban did do alot of things contradicting to the teachings - but yet when you compare to Gov’ts of Pakistan, the New Afghani Gov’t, the Lebanon Gov’t and the Egyptian Gov’t - they were far better.
