so any of you see the promos for this show? it’s called ‘Where is Heaven and How Do We Get There’ - now she interviews people from various different faiths (islam, juadism, chrisitanity, atheist), and asks them what the believe heaven is like..and the things they have to do to get there..
now this morning i was watching ‘the view’ - those five ladies that sit around a table and just talk..and they were showing bits and pieces of this interview. i’m not sure if any of you caught it, but what bothered me the most was what they had protrayed about islam. they had interviewed a palestinian suicide bomber (he believed that he would go to heaven and would have ‘hoors’..which is why he did was he did) who was in jail, and they asked him if different people from different faiths were allowed to enter heaven. and the palestinian said only muslims are allowed to enter heaven. so no jews, no christians..whatever it may be. (further discussion on this later..)
now when the five ladies started talking - it really made us muslims look bad. that no other religion is allowed to enter heaven. just kinda peeved me off…they turned it around and made it look ugly.
so i suggest, if any of you do have time tonight, to watch this interview ..and see for yourself…
i still think it's a good idea - i know it'll probably make us mad, but i was seriously thinking about writing to the ABC network, and complaining that what they're saying isn't really true (whenever something like this happens, i always say that i'll do it, but i never do :p i procrastinate, and then ..we'll it's all history :))...
I very much doubt suicide bombing a bus load of Jewish kids will get anyone into Paradise but he’s right about one thing that Faith and practicing Islam are a prerequisite for entering Paradise, if you believe everything Islam has to say then by default you will believe that Islam is the only way to Paradise and all other paths lead to the Fire and that goes for pretty much any religion in it’s pure form not misinterpreted by politically correct clergy. It doesn’t seem unfair because everyone is welcome to embrace Islam, it’s their own prerogative whether they choose the Garden or the Fire.
Of course in their media they’ll only show what Islam has to say, never mind that Christians too believe that the only way to reach “the Father” is through “the son” and anyone who doesn’t accept his “sacrifice” for our “sins” will not be redeemed by that sacrifice and will go to Hell because they died with the inherited original sin and didn’t have faith in the crucifixion to save them.
Jews too believe that anyone who doesn’t believe in the Torah and goes against the 7 Noachide Laws will go to Hell (according to them proper Judaism is only meant for the Children of Israel but the rest of humanity can achieve salvation by following the 7 Noachide Laws), even though we believe the current Torah is a corruption of the original we Muslims abide by all 7 of the rules through our religion but Christians don’t, they worship those who are not meant to be worshipped such as Prophet Jesus :as:, Virgin Mary :as:, “Holy Spirit”, Saints, Angels and Hindus most certainly don’t.
Leave political correctness out when it comes to religion.
American journalism is journalim of sound bites so this doesn’t come as a surprise. Walter could’ve easily found & interviewed knowledgable (sp?) Islamic scholars but she chose not to.
so you’re saying that even if a Jew or Christian was a good person (i.e. - Mother Theresa), they wouldn’t be able to go to Heaven?
yup ..there was this evangelical priest on the interview that was saying that if you weren’t a born again Christian you wouldn’t be ‘guaranteed’ a place in heaven. and if you weren’t well..no heaven for you ..
i know..but you’d think someone like barbara walters with some knowledge of the world would have interviewed knowledge Islamic scholars, and not some guy in jail.
i don’t see her going to a christian or jewish person who’s sitting in jail for attempting suicide.
I cought at most 2 mins of it and in all my years I've seen Barbara Walters on TV, I have never found her more annoying than in these 2 mins. She asked the suicide bomber about "hoors" at least 5 times, she was so fixated/ I wanted to slap her, she was acting like a total khoti.
Perhaps someone who watched the whole interview can give a better input.
She did interview an Islamic scholar whose name I couldn't get, he somewhat denied what 'suicide bomber' was claiming, unfortunately couldn't watch it with full attention.
The Islamic scholar said Muslims can't claim if one is going to hell, so he couldn't say if suicide bombers would end up in hell. Why do so many Muslims here claim such and such a group is going to hell if that is the case?
smilestar, I saw the view preview and was a bit freaked out too....I watched the show, unfortunately had to miss the the first 15 min of the show where I know w imam feisal's talked about the islamic view of heaven due to a conference call.
The part I saw, went btwn the suicide bomber and imam feisal (the view ONLY showed hte suicide bomber). i think they were trying to pt out that the suicide bombers view was radical and not with in islam and it did a fairly good job.
Not sure what imam feisal said at the beginning but i'm sure having him speak at the beginning gave him credence, when he came back later to be opposite the bombers comments especially on who goes to heaven(all believing good people vs the bombers only muslims, etc).
I sent off a comment email to abc/barbara, letting them know "the view" clip was disturbing and saddening to see but the actual show did a more even job....and that they did hint that many religions have this radical ONLY us get heaven.
Even Muslims aren’t guaranteed Heaven, they have to pass a criteria to qualify. Muslims can tell about followers of other religion whether they are ‘eligible’ for consideration for heaven or not (based on certain rules defined in Quran by God).
