If you don't understand simple and basic facts, you really don't have any credibility to hold this patronizing discussion. Plants absorb CO2 during photosynthesis and release oxygen into the air. The rainforests are literally the 'lungs' of this planet. So not only are we destorying the lungs, we are releasing trillions of tons of C02 into the atmosphere at the same time. It's like smoking 5 packs of cigarettes a day with only one lung.
50% of the original rainforests have been destroyed in the past 100 years. These forests have existed for millions of years, and over a third of the world's plant and animal species live here. Do you really it is such a looney liberal idea to preserve what remains?
