:salam2: I wanna ask u all wht’s the importance of jewellary in our culture specially the gold ones, why there’s so much Attention towards wearing agold jewellary? In my family a married women should wear a nose pin when she gets married, not allowed to removed it(as its considered badshagooni)the only time it’s removed when god forbid the husband dies, same as for bangles it’s a must to wear bangles dadiyaan naaiyaan will say khali Haath achai nai lagtai suhagan Kai…same goes for earrings…nowdays gold price is at its peak, those who can’t afford to give their daughters gold are seen like theyr commitung some sin, even when on wedding day wen a bride wears a jewellary piece others ask her is it gold?i mean from Islamic point of view ummahat ul momenieen used to live simple life, they should be our ideal,we should follow them inorder to became a good women..am I rite?wht’s in ur opinion is the aurat ka asli zevar?
Bangles,nose pins,jewellary!
I don't like Wearing jewelry at all. But I do like them, I have few sets of colorful bangles, I put wear them on eid.
Re: Bangles,nose pins,jewellary!
I think its not necessary to be gold things, but traditionally zevar 9ornaments) are considered as sign of suhaag in our cultures.
Re: Bangles,nose pins,jewellary!
This laung/nath what ever women wear on nose as a symbol of suhag is directly taken from hindu culture....
bangle are also nishani of suhag in hindus......

I think our Culture is badly affected by Hinduism...the wedding rasams n all that goes with it...mehandi,mayoon,dowry,we hv forgotten Wht Islam teaches us..all these things are making a simple Sunnah (shadi)hard for those who can't afford.
Re: Bangles,nose pins,jewellary!

It related to class. As you mentioned gold was affordable for almost all classes in old days, but now its beyond reach of lower class. Even you may have observed that glass bangles were also got broken from a widow at the time of her husband's death. These all are cultural aspects of sub-continent and our religion doesn't allow them.
I've also observed that in old days, a widow couldn't wear color suits or wear any zewar, but the trend is changing and now these useless customs are not being followed in that strict sense.

You are right that Islam doesn't teach these things, but nothing can be said with surety whether Hindus follow these traditions due to religion or due to folklore and customs of the area.

This Log Kiya kahenge is the biggest problem in our society.. people go beyond their budget, take heavy loans, for just the fear of this 'log kia kahenge'
Re: Bangles,nose pins,jewellary!
And one more aspect of this gold thing that if the gal doesn't bring Gold jewellary then her inlaws will not let her stay in peace either, her MIL will give her hard time all her life for not bringing gold n stuff with her!

Wearing jewelry is ok as long someone is not showing off 'hamare pas itne tola sona hai'.

Which culture are you talking about Indian or Pakistani? I had my nose pierced and wore a small diamond nose pin since high school. I recently took out my pin I think it has has been a couple of years now and my piercing has probably closed up. All my friends had nose piercings and we were all single when got our noses pierced.
Re: Bangles,nose pins,jewellary!
One of my friend don't wear nosepins, even she diden't pierce her nose...till now wen she's married...even on weddings gals don prefer nose jewellary atall..
Re: Bangles,nose pins,jewellary!
I wish that boys take some bold step,n tell their moms to stop taking dowry n stuff,do a simple Nikah...and avoid lavish traditions wich are jus a waste of money.
