Bangladeshi PM gifts Modi picture of 1971 Pakistani surrender

Re: Bangladeshi PM gifts Modi picture of 1971 Pakistani surrender

They had enough ammunition and men to resist another 6 months to one year. But General Niazi preferred to surrender.

:k: Well said. This should be conclusion of such news and such threads. No more spreading of hatred.

Re: Bangladeshi PM gifts Modi picture of 1971 Pakistani surrender

You have understand what Mujib, his family and his Awami League gone through during trouble times. Hansina’s reaction is more like personal.

Re: Bangladeshi PM gifts Modi picture of 1971 Pakistani surrender

and that was my point i.e. political leadership (specially in power) should act free of personal agendas/reactions.

Interestingly, Bangladesh got $2 billion unconditional loan from India.

Re: Bangladeshi PM gifts Modi picture of 1971 Pakistani surrender

Don’t worry as hasina’s vindictive politics at home is driving bangladesh to the ground. Lets see who has the last laugh with riots.

Re: Bangladeshi PM gifts Modi picture of 1971 Pakistani surrender

Well she/her party is not gonna be in the office for long. Let’s see when other party assumes the office in next term and we’ll see how things unfold then.

Re: Bangladeshi PM gifts Modi picture of 1971 Pakistani surrender

The whole 1971 tribunal and election rigging by flouting bangladeshi laws would make it seem like only a violent end would end hasina’s tenure. They usually have caretaker govts conduct national elections, but hasina decided to stay in power last time during elections which were boycotted by BNP and the on trial jamaat.

Bangladesh can’t threaten us physically. Competition in economic sphere is something else. I don’t think that they would latch on to an indopak war for instance as they would be liable to be nuked in that scenario.

Re: Bangladeshi PM gifts Modi picture of 1971 Pakistani surrender

I think this whole drams is to support NS.

All that provoking army .. trying to get them off the track is to support NS.

Also :
Supporting NS = Supporting Zardari

Re: Bangladeshi PM gifts Modi picture of 1971 Pakistani surrender

It’s a sad thing when two muslim countries take digs at each other from behind polytheists. But, if that’s how the leadership of Bangladesh wish to portray themselves, then so be it. Pakistan can continue to carry on, and frankly speaking this should have been a little footnote on a newspaper somewhere along the lines of “Oh and in other irrelevant news”.

Re: Bangladeshi PM gifts Modi picture of 1971 Pakistani surrender

This is very similar to Rauf Klasra’s analysis of childish and desperately forced Indian bravado.

They are trying to deliberately provoke the military leadership, and in particular Gen Raheel. Whenever hostilities with India grow, chances of martial law also increases. Last time when the Kargil situation intensified, Musharraf kicked Nawaz Sharif out of the office to take control of things. They’re probably hoping for same kind of reaction from the military again so the democratic process in Pakistan gets halted one more time.

It’s a proven fact that only military leadership in Pakistan is capable for reassuring the nation of their security and boosting public morale in case of any bogus Indian threats. Even Musharraf has spoken like a true spokesperson on this issue than the allegedly popularly elected Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Honestly, he should be ashamed of not showing any leadership and concern on this issue. Height of incompetency, sheer selfishness and crookedness.

Gen. Raheel lost his Mamoo Major Aziz Bhatti in 1965 war - Modi has decided to hold a carnival to celebrate the war. Gen. Raheel lost his brother Major Shabir in 1971 war, and Modi tried his best to glorify the catastrophe. There is indeed certain level of personal provocation for Gen. Raheel. Who’s Nawaz Sharif, is he important, is he relevant, does he even care?

Re: Bangladeshi PM gifts Modi picture of 1971 Pakistani surrender

Sid…my first reaction to Monk’s post was similar to yours but upon reflection i realized that i also posed a question in my OP that what is the end game here?

what is india trying to achieve by all these threats and super aggressive posture? there has to be some end game here. Either Modi is too dumb and temperamentally/mentally unfit for creating this war hysteria for no particular reason or he is too shewed with some thing in his mind. I dont think he is doing all this just to please his right wing voters. He is definitely not pleasing all of his super rich industrialist supporters as capital will start flying from india and foreign direct investment will freeze if there is even 1% chance of india pak war.

is India doing this to provoke army as Monk said? interesting theory. so that army kicks NS out and takes control of Pakistan? but what is India’s benefit in it? dealing with Nawaz is easier than dealing with raheel sahirf. Yes Pakistan will get some bad rep but who cares. Usa and china will still deal with Raheel sahrif.

so the question is still there..why is india doing all this?

Re: Bangladeshi PM gifts Modi picture of 1971 Pakistani surrender

If democratic process is halted with another martial law, Pakistan as a country will suffer and fall behind, and that’s the point. Country’s dip in international reputation also matter - at least to the enemies! Its relations with all foreign countries will remain the same regardless of the type of government in place.

India knows that Nawaz Sharif for sake of personal business interests won’t grow a spine and show leadership against India, and this fact itself will frustrate the public and the military. Some rifts and divides will be created as result.

Re: Bangladeshi PM gifts Modi picture of 1971 Pakistani surrender

You can’t bark back at a dog. If a dog is barking at you ignore it and move on. Also, Indians know very well that we are not Burma & our entire defense focus is India. NS wants to stabilize the economy & bellicosity and chest thumping wont help.

Re: Bangladeshi PM gifts Modi picture of 1971 Pakistani surrender

This could be a turning moment for pakistan. IF we ignore all BS and tackle terrorism and get the PCEC done in spirit . As mentioned earlier , let them bark and improve economically and secruity conditions. Saree paise ke ghulam dum daba kur aa jain ge , jaisee abhi whole world ( including us ) is dieing to play with indian team.

Re: Bangladeshi PM gifts Modi picture of 1971 Pakistani surrender

It’s not about barking back at the dog. The point is that the type leadership being shown by Gen. Raheel could easily have been provided by Nawaz Sharif. I just don’t understand why time and time again, he fails to avail these opportunities for his own sake?

Gen. Raheel is not exactly throwing fireballs, but NS’ silence makes him look more stupid, selfish and insincere.

Re: Bangladeshi PM gifts Modi picture of 1971 Pakistani surrender

Ok.. may be inida is mad because of china a little.

Re: Bangladeshi PM gifts Modi picture of 1971 Pakistani surrender

All that maybe true, but Pakistan must not fall for this bait. Pakistan has gone through one of its worst decade in 70 years. We cannot afford anymore instability and that is what Indians want. They want to destabilize Pakistan internally & we must not let the do that. Let them bark & we can just show them the fig and move on.
