In terms of a workable political system and stability it is indeed doing fine.
In regards to the things you've mentioned, these are are part of bad governance and weak democracy. However, once the system matures and all political parties goes through a tough public services test in the age of free and independent media, things would only improve. InshAllah.

I wouldnt have much problem if islamic laws were implemented by EDUCATED muslims who had knowledge of both religious and worldly matters. But as we stand, majority of the islamic law makers fail to meet the basic criteria of "humanity", forcing their perverted knowledge of Islam down others throats. Until this situation can be eradicated, I am all for secular govt and keeping these religious nut jobs out of parliaments.

The problem is that a religion is defined by its followers. Sure, I can agree that a lot of what muslims do is not islamic, but then non-muslims (and muslims alike) would ask me that why aren't they following their religion when they claim to be salafs etc?
