There are a couple of differences DA:

  1. The place of manufacturing is different. Banarsi sarees are from Varanasi and Kanjeevaram saris are from Kanchipuram.
  2. Kanjeevaram sarees use much heavier silk (3 ply) when compared to Banarasi sarees.
  3. Traditional Banaras motifs are more influenced by the Moghuls while the Kanjeevaram saree motifs are more inspired with motifs of birds, feathers, leaves, temples, etc.
