Re: Ban Indian films and TV

this topic is so crazy!!!! lol i enjoyed it!
As for my point of view Pakistan and India probably have more things in common then anyone in the whole world man we even dress the same! The only difference probably is that we have split up and have no choice but to argue the slight difference we may have. If you go to the mall and see those new shirts or kussey's the new shoes they can be found anywhere in india or pakistan because why??? we share the same dham trends, one may argue and say well ours are better or there's are better its still the same stuff, it just so happens that indians seem to bring in the trend first and we are next to follow up with that.

Re: Ban Indian films and TV

all i can say.

two brownies accusing eachother, he is better than the other!!

Pakistanis and Hindustanis have more similarities than differences. it varies from place to place even within Pakistan.

So stop fighitng like kids!

even we Pakistani considerd to be fair skinned than Indians : is it an achievement??? what if ones parents were from makran? how can he/she get fair skin being Pakistani?

some say we speak better accent than indians : ok wonder why? also face the truth, only elite/well (i mean really well) educated in Pakistan speak english BUT Indians almost everyone with school education speaks english forget the accent!

one thing I want to mention about the topic :
to avoid Indian cultural invasion through movies - try to make your own movies better instead of banning theirs. btw indian movies are offcially banned in cinemas but still watched? cause people like it.

Indian films paint a very missleading image of India but are successfull in it. everyone from outside gets a rosy picture, some get to see it in real, not all go to india. so they will have positive, friendly, full of culture, gorwing image of india.

How good infrastructure Pakistan may have, whenever you see on BBC or CNN they will show only Carts from villages or run down areas to show its Pakistan.
anyone seen high rise buildings and nice roads from pakistan on western media?

reason Indian in media has worked towards it to create more friendly face of india it may not be true in reality but they have done it, some also work to portray opposite image of Pakistan by little things it may be. Pakistanis even non residents, tend to not venture into media so we have less presence and hence less positive Pakistan to the world.

Re: Ban Indian films and TV

If you know basic math, that’s 98 million Caucasoid Pakistanis and 350 million Caucasoid Indians. Now which number is bigger?

Re: Ban Indian films and TV

Wrong. See movies like Dev, Black Friday etc., they portray all the ills in Indian society. Many Indians don’t feel shy to speak the truth about what’s happening in their country. The same is true with a few Pakistanis too. I salute such people. Next thing you know, some will start claiming that Pakistanis are a superior species of human beings, homo pakistaniensis. My friends, please do not feel shy to acknowledge what is true.

A saying in my mother tongues translates as, “A cat closes its eyes and thinks the world is not watching”. Same way if one tries to propagates wrong information, it is not going to change history. If someone remembers what happened to Goebbels, it might deter people from playing fun with history and facts.

Re: Ban Indian films and TV

i agree indian cinema is very corrupting influence for pakistan cause films have become explicit and vulgar i.e. jism, murder, i couldnt watch it in front of my family no way. pakistan films are heading that way as well

Indian channels via cable or satellite and films should be banned in
Pakistan. All Pakistanis should boycott the various means of Indian
media. The damage done to Pakistanis with Indian channels and films
is infinite:

  • They promote Indian/Hindu culture, language, and values

  • They promote Indian political propaganda against Pakistan/Muslims

  • They promote indecency, sex, violence, and vulgarity

The result is:

  • The destruction of the Pakistan's media (film/tv/etc) industry, affecting
    the local economy

  • Cultural invasion from India, and destruction of local cultures and
    values

  • Wasting of precious time of the Pakistanis with garbage

  • And then, Pakistanis are brainwashed with:

--- Hindu/Indian culture

--- Pro-India and anti-Pakistan views

--- Un-Islamic and anti-Islamic values

Some Pakistanis are against any ban or boycott with the argument of
freedom of media/expression/globalization. But what they dont realize
is that some time protectionism is the only choice when national
interests are at risk. Let us face it, Indian media is extremely
powerful and well established, and there is no way that Pakistan can
compete fairly with them in a free environment. In an era when
military wars are becoming insignificant, media is the new potent
weapon utilized by the enemy for their benefit. Let us act before its too late.

Indian (Hindi) cultural invasion should be stopped. The occupied nations of Tamils, Assamese, Nagas, Manipurans, Tripurans, Mizos, Telugus, Keralans, Goans, Sikhs are sick and tired of crappy Indian films/TV which are corrupting and destroying their culture. Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Afghanistan should learn from them. Keep the ban on Indian films and TV indefinitely!

Separatists issue edict against Hindi films

Thursday November 20, 2004
The Guardian

Bollywood films have been banned by rebel groups throughout India's troubled north-eastern region because their "erotic song and dance numbers" have been deemed a bad influence on young minds.

In a rare show of solidarity, nine armed separatist groups across five states, including Assam, have issued an edict against the popular Hindi films from Bombay's film factories.

"Hindi films are part of an ugly Indian media campaign of cultural aggression, endangering the very survival of the unique cultural identity of the indigenous people," said a tribal Bodo rebel leader in Assam.

A similar ban, imposed two years ago, is in place in Manipur state, which borders Burma.

Soldiers and armed police have begun guarding cinemas, as well as the homes and offices of people involved in the film industry.

Film distributors initially tried to reason with the rebel leaders, and even offered to snip "titillating" scenes from Bollywood romances.

But the rebels refused the offer, saying that their objections were not just to cinematic "obscenity" but to "Indian cultural imposition".

Bollywood produces a few hundred Hindi films every year and dominates India's film business, often snuffing out more authentic regional cinema. But in Assam and Manipur, regional cinema survives.

The rebel groups have been seeking to channel resentment against Bollywood, and hostility towards Indians who come from outside the north-eastern region remains high.

More reasons why Pakis should ban Urdu (aka Hindi) language!!!!!!!!!

Re: Ban Indian films and TV

I think if Lollywood can make good quality films then there will be no need for Pakistan to ban Indian cinema. So the effort should be to improve the quality of Pakistani cinema and television.

Re: Ban Indian films and TV

Lollywood is just a copycat of Bollywood. First Pak needs to change that dumb name Lollywood to some thing more mature, and then make decent/classic movies without any cheap Indian influence -- for which the only solution is to halt Urdu (aka Hindi) as Pak national language.

Look at how the Iranians have prospered and respected in film industry worldwide, and their films are unique with great artistic innovations and decency. There is a lesson for Pakistan here...
