im adding a few pics from website and friends who have been to baltistan. Most of them are of the gorgeous landscape…some are of balti kids and a a few of traditional balti dance (talmoh) and their festivals.
I cant believe this is where im going to be in a few months.

the building you see in the fourth picture is a monastery turned into a mosque....(since the original dwellers were buddhists)

Baltistan is a region to the north of Kashmir, bordering the Chinese region of Xinjiang. It is situated in the Karakoram mountains just to the south of K2, the world’s second highest mountain.
most pakistanis do not know where this heaven on earth is…
half my family is balti…i guess thats how i know lolz.

mehnaz- i know i should quit complaining.
femme- i think its full-sleeved shalwar kamiz and a dupatta on head as a minimum...some people have told me the scarf-burqa is not mandatory except in some areas. the area for the most part looks secluded to me and i've seen pics of some gori tourist women in just shalwar kamiz without dupatta on head so i guess they are slowly becoming more open....
