mehnaz- i know i should quit complaining.

femme- i think its full-sleeved shalwar kamiz and a dupatta on head as a minimum…some people have told me the scarf-burqa is not mandatory except in some areas. the area for the most part looks secluded to me and i’ve seen pics of some gori tourist women in just shalwar kamiz without dupatta on head so i guess they are slowly becoming more open…

I would probably wear jeans with a somewhat long shirt u know. I just don;t like the shalwars going wild and flapping in the wind. Have fun.

Is the airport in Baltistan?
Or do they use the Skardu airport?

there are two airports ( or more like airstrips ) in the region - gilgit and skardu..

Baltistan is a region to the north of Kashmir, bordering the Chinese region of Xinjiang. It is situated in the Karakoram mountains just to the south of K2, the world’s second highest mountain.

most pakistanis do not know where this heaven on earth is…

shdreamz, Baltistan is rated very highly amongst the most attractive tourist places in pakistan. Most travel guides have seperate sections for Baltistan and i have actually read some books on Baltistan and their unique culture and beautiful scenery. It’s really fascinating and i hope to visit the place one day, i don’t know if many people do know about this place but it’s definitely one of the MOST beautiful places in pakistan and it’s pretty much famous.

dear all..:) ..no need to get confused with the word BALTISTAN....the simplest name for baltistan is skardu.......i think most of the pakistanis know abt SKARDU..........
Baltistan is actually a collective name for a few of the valleys located in the northern Pakistan...
i have been there as my father is an army officer..we lived there for nearly two and a half years.it is really a worth visiting place.pplare very hospitable and loving.
then i went with my husband on honeymon too.all who are planning to visit this area try to be there during april-september,otherwise it gets damn toooooooo chilly.HAPPY TRAVELLING.

and above all we should not mind wearing hijab as this is what islam expects from us...atleast decent,modest and respectable covering of our bodies.O Prophet, tell your wives and daughters and the believing women to draw their outer garments around them (when they go out or are among men). That is better in order that they may be known (to be Muslims) and not annoyed..."(Qur'an 33:59)

but thats a separate issue...here i would pray for all of u a nice and peaceful stay with a lot of happy memories
